If you recall, this segment aired in 1996. Michael McGuffey was a 27 year old heavy drinker who made plans to work on taxes with his ex-wife on September 27th, 1993. When she arrived later than she was supposed to, McGuffey broke out into a furious rage, claiming her new boyfriend was a sex offender, and shot her dead. He was on the run for 8 years until he was caught in November 2001. He was sentenced to 27 years in prison. The story was recently featured in the documentary series " I (Almost) Got Away With It."
