Hey, I just got to wondering. When they first edited the show for syndication back in the 60's how much did they edit out and did they edit every episode or just selected ones?

On the DVD's it shows you where the edits where made in some of the episodes and what was restored but they don't mention all of them. For example in Season 1 Disk One they showed you what was edited and restore in the episodes "The Girls Want To Go To a Nightclub, Lucy Thinks Ricky Is Trying to Murder Her, and The Quiz Show". They showed you what was restored in those 3 episodes. But they don't mention about any edits in Be A Pal and The Diet. Did they edit them episodes or just the first three mention?

If they don't show what was missing in a surtain episode does that mean that episode wasn't edited in Syndication? The Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour also, shows you missing footage in the bonus features on some episodes but, where all of them edited or just those in syndication?

Also, when watching the show on the Hallmark channel the edits you see in the episodes on the Hallmark channel are they the same ones they made back in the 60's or where they as butchered up back then as they are now? Please let me know. Thanks.

They often cut 3 - 5 minutes off shows for syndication, so local stations can insert more commercials. "I Love Lucy" ran originally about 25 - 26 minutes per episode. Today, they don't want shows running more than 21 to 22 minutes so they can run more commercials. TV Land I believe ran the full of ILL episodes but it is highly unlikely anyone else will ever air anything but the "butchered" episodes. Thankfully, we have the DVDs to watch. :)
