Comedy Central is set to unveil an eclectic development slate that tackles sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and religion.

The network has 22 projects in the pipeline ranging from script deals to pilots, with the usual formats of animated shows, sketch comedy and talk shows represented.

Standout ideas include a live sex-chat talk show, a program based on a Funny or Die Web short, an update of "The Odd Couple" and an animated series about Jesus Christ.

That last item could raise eyebrows coming on the heels of the network's recent censorship of "South Park" for attempting to depict the Prophet Muhammad. The show in development, "JC," is a half-hour about Christ wanting to escape the shadow of his "powerful but apathetic father" and live a regular life in New York.

Why isn't there any outrage in the media about this like there was that fringe group before Muhammad was to appear? Does the media actually care about what happens to Jesus? Why does Comedy Central listen take that fringe group more seriously than the American Family Association, Parents Television Council, Focus on the Family, etc.? (Of note, I wrote a letter to Comedy Central after the Muhammad censorship, demanding that they treat Jesus with as much respect, if not greater, and I wonder if my letter gave them the idea!)

EXACTLY!!!!

I think it has to do with the mindset of people. They lack quality understanding behind someone or something. If they had a clearer picture and more understading instead of poking fun and constrasting sacred images, the matter would not be an issue. They figure whatever works just works and is good for laughter...and ratings!

Simple, because Christians aren't threatening to behead you if you mock Jesus. Bash Muhammad in public and that is a death sentence in Islam's eyes.

About the show, who are they trying to aim at for a target audience? Christians who would get insulted? The non-religious looking for an edgy show?

I think this show probably won't be around long anyway. It will show only three episodes, lose massive amounts of money, and be gone. I don't see it being a hit.

I'm not religious so I'm indifferent about it (the show). Not really interested in it.

Laughter + Ratings = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!! It always comes back to money.

You took the words right out of my mouth. If they were making a comedy show about Islam, or Buddism, the PC people would have a fit.

I don't even remember the last time I watched this joke of a network. It's probably been a decade.

Oh, there would be picket lines a mile long if that actually happened. Of course, they'd be too chicken to do that.
