The 2010 Tony Award Nominations were announced this morning in New York, and "Alice" star Linda Lavin received her fifth nomination. The Tonys recognizes best performances in the theater industry.

Lavin got a nod as 'Lead Actress in a Play' for her work in "Collected Stories". The actress is up against another 70s sitcom star, Valerie Harper (among others) for Harper's performance in the short-lived "Looped".


Lavin appeared as a guest star in the first season of Harper's CBS sitcom "Rhoda" before winning her own sitcom on CBS a few years later. The episode was called "The Shower". Lavin played a high school nemesis of Rhoda, named Linda - a selfish classmate who continues to hassle Rhoda at her own bridal shower.

Lavin has been nominated four previous times, winning in 1987 for her performance in Neil Simon's "Broadway Bound".

CBS airs the Tony Awards live on June 13, at 8 PM.
