It's interesting that by the final season, the show came to have just as many female characters in the cast as males (Don Grady had all but left), not counting the triplets since they were not old enough for speaking roles:

Females: Katie, Barbara, Dodie, and Polly
Males: Steve, Chip, Ernie, and Charley

Quite a change from the early years, which were all-male in the household...!

I thought Dodie (Dorothy, played by Dawn Lyn) was all right; by the time the last 2 seasons aired, she was more settled-in. Of course, those seasons are less commonly seen.
