The 'cloud' must have been an obscured Chevrolet logo. Syndicated prints almost universally replaced that plug in the corner with the image of Samantha alone. I've never seen one modified the way you describe, but since Chevrolet dropped its sponsorship in 1969, Dick Sargent's cartoon Darrin never got to ride the Chevy logo.

In some syndicated episodes I saw in the 80's I noticed at the end of the opening credits there was the cloud of smoke and all of a sudden, the sound was muted until the episode began. That must have been the announcer spot "sponsered by.." when ABC ran it.

That was a part of the Chevrolet original sponsor ending from season 1 through 6 & followed a Chevrolet commercial that played after the endtag scene, only it was a Chevrolet logo they were sitting on not a cloud which was only used in syndicated prints to obscure the Chev logo.

I have one though from Season 6 with them riding on the Chevrolet logo, Chevrolet was still
Co-sponsoring the show with Kodak for the second straight season.

I also have one with them riding on a cloud from Season 5.
