View Full Version : The Go-Go's calling it quits after summer tour....Does Anyone Really Care?
Brian Damage 04-28-2010, 10:31 PM Their lips are sealed ... for good. The Go-Go's announced this week that their July tour, which happily includes a stop in Tampa Bay, will be their last.
The "Happily Ever After - Farewell Tour" begins July 7 in San Diego, stops in St. Petersburg on July 10 and wraps up in Austin, Texas, on July 27. A live TV performance on Good Morning America is set for July 16.
The band's official website doesn't really give a reason for the breakup, other than it appears 30-plus years together is enough. Lead singer Belinda Carlisle reportedly hinted at the breakup on her Facebook page back in February. Her official website says she's be doing a solo tour this summer in Europe, Japan and the United States.
Back in 2008, band co-founder Jane Wiedlin told Stuck in the '80s that the days of long tours were over. "In the early '80s we once toured for nearly two years straight, and now we never do more than about two weeks," she told me. "Every year it seems to get a little more complicated trying to get together to do stuff. We are now living in FIVE different places, which makes it a real challenge to get together."

HuntingtonM15 04-28-2010, 10:55 PM Belinda is best solo, anyway.
Retro4Life 04-28-2010, 11:10 PM Um, yeah I care. I loved the Go Gos back in the day (though I admit I didn't realize they were still together). Some great memories!
88survivor 04-29-2010, 09:17 AM Belinda should have left her face alone. She has the worst plastic surgery by far, worse than Madge or the Cat Woman combined.
MickeyMac 04-29-2010, 09:42 AM I cant say I really liked Belinda Carlisle's solo work, but the first two Go Go's LP's are good.
Dr. Thong 04-29-2010, 12:10 PM I thought they already had broken up.
I know they reunited about ten years ago, but there haven't been any recent tours or albums, so I just assumed...
And there's no such thing as a "Farewell" tour in the music industry.;)
catlover79 04-29-2010, 12:13 PM I didn't know they were still together myself. Also, Chris is right about the "Farewell" thing. Just ask Barbra Streisand!!!
Dr. Thong 04-29-2010, 12:17 PM "Our Lips Are Sealed." Reminds me of a Go-Go's joke I heard in high school.
Here goes...
Why can't the Go-Go's--
Um, never mind.

That's a bit of an over exaggeration. The worst by far? Hardly. Hers might be bad, but it certainly doesn't compare to the cat woman. Hers isn't even as bad as Tori Spelling or Taylor Dayne. I'd even say that Heidi Montag, who is half her age, looks worse.
catlover79 04-29-2010, 03:52 PM Oh my gosh!! Taylor Dayne looks HORRIBLE - what did she do to herself???

It seems that she has made herself lose the ability to smile.
phoebe7165 04-29-2010, 03:58 PM That "Farewll Tour" doesn't seem like much of a tour - it's not even 3 weeks long!! I thought when an act does a farewell, it's supposed to drag on for a few years!;)

I don't know, but love aint leading me back to her!!

She can't even smile without tearing a rotator cuff!!!!

Hey, the truth hurts - literally.
robyrob 04-30-2010, 10:48 AM i love the Go-Go's, and they still put on a surprisingly good show, but they can't go on forever.
dakert 05-02-2010, 10:42 PM Every other band is still touring why no the Go Gos? My friend Doug is going to see Winger and Firehouse in Clearfield PA on May 8th

snowcreature23 05-02-2010, 10:48 PM We Got The Beat was one of the first albulms I got when CD's were coming out, I do like Belinda Carlisle's also liked her Heaven Is Place On Earth, which spawend some hits for her, Circle In The Sand, in 1986 was Mad About You was also a v ery big hit. She did some album in Frech also, but, Leave A Light On For Me was my fav of all her songs I don't know why she just seems so full of enegry in her vid's and in the late 80's early 90's her vid's were awesome, a lot better then most of the big name stars, she's the real deal and hopefully she will go back to her roots back in pop/rock,but We Got The Beat was a head of it's yrsmat the end Fast Times At RidgeMont High was the beginning song we got the beat, Belinda stay the way u r. and I also did'nt know they were together I would pay to go see them mabe they will come to Alaska.?

Clearfield, PA?????? Really? Um, really? It's just that I've been through Clearfield many, many times and I just never saw it as a place that somebody would have a concert. And it doesn't matter who you are.
But hey, if Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie can play Casper, WY(another city I never really considered a place for concerts), I guess anything is possible!!:D
