There's been some talk of a biopic focusing on Black Sabbath frontman and perpetually confused family man Ozzy Osbourne for years now. Almost seven years ago the project was supposedly near a greenlight, but since then only random television shows featuring different members of the Osbournes have manifested, not to mention a supposed documentary on Ozzy from his own son Jack. But according to The Dish Rag, it looks like the biopic is in active development as wife Sharon Osbourne opened up about the status of the project recently while promoting "Celebrity Apprentice", saying: "There's about to be a big announcement."

As for specifics, there weren't really any tossed around yet, but Sharon was very confident talking about it and even gave a timeframe as to when we might hear more about this long-gestating biopic. She explains:

"It's been picked up and it's going into production. We're going to make a press announcement hopefully within the next two weeks. [There's no cast] yet, but we have a producer and we have lots of money and we're all starting.

As for who might end up playing the infamous heavy metal pioneer, both Ozzy and Sharon have expressed how much they would have loved Johnny Depp to take the role (after all, Captain Jack Sparrow is simply a more coherent, swashbuckling version of Osbourne). However, Mrs. Osbourne did say that they're looking for "somebody new" to play Ozzy, as in an unknown actor, but she still has a dream as to who would play herself in the biopic: "An Education's talented beauty Carey Mulligan." That seems like a very odd choice, but seems okay to me, I guess. We'll be waiting for the big announcement, so stay tuned until we hear more.
