Usher has predicted that his protégé Justin Bieber's career will be more successful than his own because the 16-year old is a 'more talented musician' than he was as a teenager.

The OMG singer, who has been Bieber's mentor since meeting him back in 2008 insisted that he is not surprised at Justin's success and is convinced the One Time hit maker will grow in popularity.

Usher claimed: "You haven't seen the best of him. He is a pop craze like The Beatles. They started out as pure pop artists and look what they became over the years."

"Justin reminds me of myself at that age, only he's a much more talented musician than I was. He taught himself piano and guitar. I couldn't, so he has that advantage.

The R n B star added: "This isn't about his age and we're never going to appease a crowd. His audience will grow with him. I started out when I was a teenager. Now, 45 million albums later…"

In other Bieber news, the pint-sized singer was forced to cancel a gig in Australia yesterday after hoards of adoring fans caused mayhem in the build-up to the show.

I do not get this "Tween Scene" infatuation with Bieber. I do not think he has much talent and is certainly not comparable to The Beatles. That said, I am going to his concert in July since I have two completely Bieber-infatuated girls (ages 9 and 12.) They are so excited and it is their first concert. I hope they remember it fondly and appreciate that I am doing this for them, because I certainly am not going to be there for the music.

I'm waiting for Jack to see this thread!!

I have nothing against Justin, well, I don't listen to him at all. I'd be curious in 20 years how many of the future musical acts out there cite Justin as a music influence though, compared to the musical influence of the Beatles.

Hey, Zelda, one suggestion - ear plugs!!

Seriously, unless you want to endure a couple hours of high-pitched screams!! I'm talking about the tween audience, not Justin's singing!!

Or maybe I am talking about his "singing", too!;)

Talk about Spin, Usher, maybe his career? should be over, in fact, let's even see if we are listening to Usher 40 years from now.....all this BS all the time about being compared to The Beatles....

as for little bieber, why don't we just wait for his voice to change first? Then in 10 years I'll watch him on the 30th version of "Celebrity Fit Club"

backstreet boys, hanson, Jonus Brothers, N'Sync, Spice Girls, and whatever group Nick Lashay was in??? all were going to be bigger than The Beatles...and in the 70's it was The Bay City Rollers....its an advertising ploy and spin using the beatles name......these current disposible guys are all TEEN IDOLS with a shorter shelf life everyday..........The Beatles were teen idols but they also appealed to everyother generation...that is the big difference.

again we just passed 40 years since The Beatles Broke-up with two group members now passed and they still were the second best selling artist of the decade 2000-2009!

Compared to the Beatles? LOL There will NEVER be anyone better than the Beatles and that includes Micheal Jackson. I remember back in the late 70's when people were saying the Knack were gonna be better than the Beatles, they had that one big album and then disappeard in the night.

The hair is the only thing that comes close. I'm not a big fan of the Beatles as performers, but Lennon and McCarthy's songwriting was very, very strong, I don't Justin Bieber has those skills.

Um ok Usher's a moron. The Beatles were always more than "pure pop artists". Lennon and Mccartney are the greatest song writing duo in history, and they wrote their own songs from the very beginning. I don't know how you can translate that to being a pop craze.

The Beatles are overrated in the most over-the-top, silly, childish way.

I certainly agree that Justin Bieber will never have a career anywhere close to that of the Beatles. On the other hand, there is room for comparison. The hysteria that follows him when he makes an appearance is very reminiscent of the Beatles circa 1964. So was Rollermania in 1976. If you were to go back to 1964 without the hindsight we have now, there really is no reason why the average person would have had any idea of the legacy the Beatles would ultimately have in spite of their huge popularity at the time.

I think that the Beatles are the greatest rock band of all time and to the extent Usher is predicting that Justin Bieber will have anywhere near the legacy they have, I think he's kind of dellusional. And truth be told, I doubt he really even believes that himself. Only time will tell. However, as a 39 year old male who is viewing Biebermania, if that's what it's called, from the outside with nothing more than amusement, I doubt my views about him are much different than my grandparent's views were about the Beatles in 1964 or my great-grandparents views were about Frank Sinatra in 1940.
