Sean Young Joins "The Young and the Restless"

File this under another daytime TV shocker:

According to PEOPLE, actress Sean Young (Blade Runner) will make her daytime debut on the longrunning CBS soap "The Young and the Restless".

She'll play Meggie, a "sultry barmaid" who becomes involved with Victor Newman, played by her Man Who Came Back co-star, Eric Braeden. Young's role is set to tape in May.

Young is one of two A-listers taping next month:

As we previously reported, "Baywatch" alum David Hasselhoff will make a brief cameo return as Dr. William "Snapper" Foster, Jr., though his role will not overlap with Young's.

"Getting the chance to work with my dear friend Eric Braeden, one of the true gentlemen in entertainment, was certainly a deciding factor for me as well as wanting to get back to work after taking a few years off to raise my kids," Young said, according to PEOPLE.

As of now, Victor has been arrested for the murder of his son, Adam, but that doesn't mean he killed him; his other son, Nick, is also under arrest, even though Victor has since confessed to the murder.

What may be afoot is a longer story arc, in which we're going to find out that Adam faked his death. Perhaps Meggie is someone who's connected to Adam in some way? For now, we can only speculate.

Whatever the plot, Young's appearance on "Young" is another daytime coup. Big names have been dropping into soaps with some regularity.

In recent weeks, Julianne Moore did a cameo on "As the World Turns" and Michael Nouri is soon to be on air on "All My Children".

Young's role begins in mid-June.

You know your career is over when you go from movies to doing soaps.

Hey dont knock soaps, some talented actors are working in daytime TV. In fact some of them are better actors than those who work in Hollywood.

Agreed!! Daytime drama is the hardest medium on TV to work on - any actor would say that.

Sean Young Back for More "Young and the Restless"

Is this the beginning of a comeback for Sean Young?

The actress, who rose to fame in the '80s in films like Blade Runner and No Way Out, has reportedly extended her run as Meggie on "The Young and the Restless" through August, according to Hollywood Insider.

Young returns to the CBS sudser on Jul. 14.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE, Young said that she was initially enticed to appear on the show based on the prospect of working with her friend and co-star, Eric Braeden.

Braeden, who plays Victor on "Y&R", co-starred with Young in the 2008 western The Man Who Came Back.

Young, 50, seems ideally cast as a hard-living, no-strings-attached barmaid who gets involved in a dangerous mystery -- and possibly something more -- with Victor.

She joins a growing list of "Y&R" guest spots this year, including one from David Hasselhoff, who recently returned as Dr. William "Snapper'' Foster, Jr., a character he originated 35 years ago.

She joined the show last month, acting in five episodes.

Ugh. I don't like this at all. Melody Thomas Scott is sitting there with nothing to do, but they're bowing down to this desperate has-been. C'mon, Y&R.

What was MTS's last real storyline on the show? It seems a while that she's had a decent story to play. :(

I had no clue it was even her when she was on last month. That's how much I have no clue who she is. I agree that they need to stop casting these people and focus on the actors that they do have.
