Bugs and Daffy Return in Cartoon Network's New "Looney Tunes"
April 21, 2010 | By: Gary Susman

It's wabbit season! No, it's duck season!

Actually, it's both. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd and all the old-school Warner Bros. animated characters are coming back for "The Looney Tunes Show", a series on Cartoon Network consisting of all-new half-hour episodes and shorts starring the classic cartoon characters.

The cable channel, which revealed its upcoming schedule to advertisers in its annual upfront presentation to advertisers today in New York, announced that "Looney Tunes" and several other new series and specials would join the Cartoon Network lineup, alongside such returning favorites as "Star Wars: The Clone Wars", "Destroy Build Destroy" and "Batman: The Brave and the Bold".

"Looney Tunes" will present a digital age spin on such decades-old characters as Bugs, Daffy, Tweety, Sylvester and Yosemite Sam, who will now all be suburban neighbors.

Instead of the traditional seven-minute "Looney Tunes" shorts that were a staple of movie theater programming and Saturday morning television for generations, the new episodes will be half-hour-long stories, though they'll be interrupted by cartoons within the cartoon.

There will be two-minute 'Merrie Melodies' music videos -- original songs sung by such characters as the Tasmanian Devil, Speedy Gonzalez, and Marvin the Martian - and two and a half minute Road Runner/Wile E. Coyote shorts, which will be computer-animated.

Looks like a combination of "Looney Tunes" and "Over the Hedge".

I wonder how it will hold-up?
