View Full Version : Police Officers/Authority figures on multiple UM broadcasts?
sdb4884 04-21-2010, 01:09 PM Can anyone name any? i'm sure i've seen the same cops etc on different episodes.
I think Lt. Ray Biondi (Homicide Bureau commander Sacremento California) has been on more than one, he was on the convience store killings.
Wamisto 04-21-2010, 03:03 PM Yeah, I noticed that too. I was tempted to put it in a post somewhere, but I never did.
Lt. Ray Biondi was interviewed for the pre-Stack "Unabomber" segment, as well as the case of the "Thrill Killer" (for which Eric Royce Leonard was convicted).
I would think there would be a couple more, but I have never noticed any others.
wiseguy182 04-21-2010, 03:36 PM Medford Oregon had one (Steven Cox and Dennis Walker)
pretty sure I've seen one from Oklahoma on twice (Duane McCorkendale and...somebody help me out here)
crystaldawn 04-21-2010, 04:53 PM Yes Wiseguy the first one who came to mind was Paul Renfrow from Oklahoma. I believe he was in the Duane McCorkendale, Aileen Conway and Wendy Camp case. There may have been more.
dynoguy88 04-21-2010, 05:47 PM Det. Ernie Hamerick of the Phoenix Police Department was interviewed in both the Jeanne Tovrea segment as well as the Doug Johnston (Mistaken Hit) segment. He investigated both murder scenes.
Oldschooler81 04-21-2010, 06:14 PM I was just about to post a similar topic about people interviewed in unrelated UM segments.
Melvin Morse, the Seattle doctor was in both the near death experiences (the 7 year old girl Crystal in 1982 who almost drowned, interviewed as a teen in '89) and after death experiences (Patty Eggleston whose husband John passed away after their car went over a bridge).
They've also had some professionals interviewed on a few stories, like the criminologist Jack Levin - I like that guy (white beard and semi balding hair).
kadrmas15 04-21-2010, 07:45 PM Yeah, you see some of the same people. The ones above obviously but there was more than one dude from the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation that was in multiple segments. The guy that was in the Leonard Direckson segment was also in an earlier segment. I am sure there are more that I am forgetting but the ones I was thinking of, they have all been mentioned.
kadrmas15 04-21-2010, 07:49 PM Even though the topic was cops or politicians that appear on multiple broadcasts, I was wondering how many politicians actually appeared in these segments? I can remember then Attorney General now Lieutenant Governor and U.S. Senate candidate this year Lee Fisher of Ohio appearing in the segment on the Ohio truck stop prostitute serial killings. Congressman Howard Berman (D-CA) who appeared in the Mario Amato segment. Berman is still in office and actually is now the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Also, I remembered U.S. Marshal Arthur Broderick Jr he appeared in both the segment on Jean Marie Gagnon and Louie Boshwa (sorry I butchered that one) and on the segment about Salvador Michael Carauana.
There was also that kooky Ohio Congressman who appeared on the show. He was actually kicked out of the House and thrown in jail for several years. Jim Trafficanty I want to say?
kadrmas15 04-22-2010, 12:56 AM It was James Traficant, well former Congressman James Traficant (D-OH) that was in the segment about Frank Olson. That reminds me, Congressman, well now former Congressman Jay Dickey (R-AR) was also on the show, in the segment about Billy Hargrove and Mike Carmichael. I would not say that Congressman Traficant was 'cooky' just that he was a bit eccentric. Likes to believe in conspiracy theories and had his own way of thinking but nothing wrong with that. He was expelled from the house which was a sad day. Traficant spent 6 years in federal prison but is now free and back on the speaking circuit. Glad he has not lost his personality.
sdb4884 07-06-2010, 09:44 AM Yeah I noticed Harvey Hamerick on the mistake hit case, I recognized his voice from the Jeanne Tovera hit case.
justins5256 07-06-2010, 10:35 AM Another contender for the list...
FBI Special Agent William E. Smith
He was interviewed twice pertaining to Kevin Poulsen aka Dark Dante and the attack on CW Roddy.
McBevis 07-06-2010, 06:51 PM FBI Supervisory Special Agent Bob Ricks has been in several segments.
Scott Burau (the detective in the Tim McClure segment) appeared in another segment more than a decade later, but I don't remember which one.
Forensic pathologist Cyril Wecht has also been in several segments.
John Philpin (the psychologist in the New Hampshire serial killer segment) was also in something else years later (I can't remember off the top of my head what, though).
Parapsychologist Dr. William Roll has been in at least 5 segments.
