Jennifer Aniston has announced plans to make her feature film directorial debut.

The former Friends star is hoping for a career "rebirth" in Hollywood, inspired by Drew Barrymore's directorial efforts - and she is already working on a top secret movie.

She says, "I have a project in development I'm going to direct. After you get enough movies under your belt you sit back and go, 'What's next?' It's getting to a time where creatively I want to turn in a different direction."

The project won't be Aniston's first shot at moviemaking - she co-directed 2006 short film Room 10, which starred Robin Wright and Kris Kristofferson.

Agreed, I mean, it worked for her "Friends" Costar David Schwimmer.

Yeah, after the string of bombs she's cranked out, she'd better take a break from acting for a while. Or at least hire better people to help her pick projects.

I thought Jenn would do better on the big screen. I think she's a good actress; but her big role may be around the corner.

Well, Sandra Bullock made plenty of flop movies before finally striking (Oscar) gold with The Blind Side - so I don't see any reason why Jennifer couldn't do the same thing. In the meantime, switching gears to directing for awhile sounds like a good move. It's sure to keep the creative juices flowing and at the same time try something new. (I personally thought Jen did a great job in The Good Girl with Jake Gyllenhaal and should've gotten more attention for that.)
