I was watching UM the other day and came across the Kurt Mcfall case. I knew I had heard the name Carrhotic before. A quick google search lead me to this board where I saw the picture of him. I didn't know him by face, but I recognized one of the people in the photo.
I asked a friend of mine who is a pagan priest and has ties to COG (coven of the goddess) and sure enough the person in the pic was who I thought it was. From there I learned that the coven that Kurt was with believed (and still does) that Carrhotic murdered Kurt. In fact most of the information against him on the UM piece was information turned into the police by COG once they realized what had happened.
The believe that Carrhotic was trying to seduce Kurt and Kurt wasn't going for it. He was dating one of the female priesthood and thought that Carrhotic would back off once he told him no.
Carrhotic has been black listed from COG and anything to do with them.
I am sorry that I don't have more information I will try to get more when I can talk to my friend again.

wow, thank you for that info.

my first impression of Carrohtic was that he was innocent, based on how laid back he is and how non-threatening his group appears to be. But based on that, it has me thinking again.

Really, what adult invites a 17 year old kid who is not a relative over to his house to spend the night? that kind of nags me. Makes me think that Carrohtic really did have the hots for Kurt.

I'm also a bit baffled why Kurt would go out for a spontaneous run in the middle of the night. Just seems odd.

 Very very interesting. Yes, PLEASE, if you can, get back to us if you have anymore information. I always felt that there was something more to this story. At first I thought that, perhaps, Carrhotic was a mentor of Kurt's, but the more I think about it, I think here was an older man, living alone, involved in Dungeons and Dragons (I mean, how immature can one get)?

Add to that the fact that Kurt was spending the night many times (you almost have to wonder if they actually did have something going there for a bit (even just a curious, let's try this out type of thing on Kurt's part). Then, when Kurt said not anymore, he was killed by Carrhotic.

I'm sorry to even type this, (and I'm open to just about anything), but reading about "pagan priests" and "coven of the goddess", not to mention adults playing D&G, it just makes me shake my head.

I guess people will do anything to feel a part of something won't they?

Anyway, thanks for your input.:)

from what I was told, they did not have a relationship. It was thought that Kurt had gone over that night to make sure everything was clear with Carrhotic, that he was not interested and everything was still good between them as mentor and student.
I feel the 'friend' in the segment was way off the mark with him wanting out and fearing for his life. Kurt was dating one of the priestesses and they got a long great.
As for what type of people would be interested in "pagan priests" and "coven of the goddess" there are a lot of pagans out there. there is an estimated 200,000 in the us alone.
IF you would like more information on CoG here is the website
http://www.cog.org/welcome.html and the FAQ list http://www.cog.org/wicca/faq.html
Also there is no out right connection between paganism and D&D. I am pagan and I don't play D&D. My husband is also pagan and he does play D&D but he is the only pagan in his D&D group. It is a game just like xbox or anything else.

Pretty sure you just insulted an entire belief system, of which Amelora is part. Come on, dude.

You're right.. that wasn't my intention Meg. Sometimes I get a bit cynical about religion in general, particularly when it might be used to explain away a crime. There are so many examples of this happening. I hope Amelora wasn't offended. The last thing I want to do is offend anyone on this board that I thoroughly enjoy reading and posting on ;)

Won't happen again:)

Nope, not offended. A lot of people have never head of paganism, or have only heard it in relationship to satanism. I am sure I have miss-informed notions about other religions too.
I must say even I thought the clip of the group chanting was lame. I am not sure if they picked that part of the ritual to make the group look non-threatening or to make it look more like satanism.
