As the penultimate season of this hit primetime drama unfolds, arrogant oil man J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) is determined to figure out what his ex-wife Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) meant when she referenced a film that would make him "the laughing stock of Texas."

Elsewhere on Southfork Ranch, Miss Ellie (Barbara Bel Geddes) and Clayton (Howard Keel) are desperate to find a lock that will fit a mysterious key that came in the mail.

J.R.'s illegitamate son shows up here. That was a good idea, but they should have done that way sooner, like when he was still married to Sue Ellen. Also James (that was J.R.'s son), hardly had any scenes with the other Ewings except J.R. and John Ross. He had I think only two scenes with Bobby, and none with Miss Ellie. This was her grandson after all and it was as though they never met.

Also J.R. getting himself locked up in the looney bin was weak. There was a time J.R. would never let himself get in a perdicament like that.

The show has slipped by this point.

The show was beyond bad by this season but as a big Dallas fan I will be getting this season.

So they only have one more season to go, right? How long ago was it that S1 was released?

Yes, one more to go as of now.

Seasons 1 and 2 were released in one DVD set on August 8, 2004.

From what I understand "Season 1" was a five episode mini-series and "Season 2" is when the actual series started.

Sorry for the delay in posting a review. I've been under the weather since Friday (I won't go into the details of that). I should have my write-up finished by tomorrow. Sorry again.

I hear the picture quality is much better on this set than the last set. Also after the last season of Dallas is released I heard that the reunion movies will be released after that.

Well that's good to know. The series isn't complete without them.

They could have this done by the end of the year. I am not getting this, but I will probably spring for season 14, mainly because I kinda liked the last episode.

How about the reunion movies? Also, didn't most of the surviving cast do a retrospective sometime in 2005 or 2006?

There was a Dallas reuinon around 2004 that brought back the main characters of the show. That can be seen in its entirety on season 4 of Dallas. That was a nice surprise when I got that.:)

I hope Dallas: The Early Years is released too. That should have been put on as a bonus to the dream season since that's when it originally was released.

yes, I'm also hoping they realese "DALLAS: THE EARLY YEARS". For those that never heard of this, it was a TV-movie that CBS made in the 80s that showed how Jock and Digger Barnes met etc.

I'm glad they'll be realeasing the reunion movies. I remember I taped the first one-called "DALLAS: J.R. RETURNS"- on my VCR but when the second one-called "DALLAS: WAR OF THE EWINGS"-my VCR was broken and I remember I was so mad at the time because I was out the night it was on so I missed it. I've been hoping all these years that someone would show it, but they didn't. Years ago; SPIKE TV (back when they were TNN) showed both movies but we didn't have that channel then.

Like someone else said; the 13th season the show was beyond bad (that whole story with J.R. in the mental hospital was stupid-the early J.R. would have NEVER,EVER let that happen to him) but I'll probably rent it some day from Netflix.
