Episodes produced by Saul Turteltaub and Bernie Orenstein-In my opinion, the Aaron Ruben produced episodes were FAR better and funnier.Oh,sure, there WERE some good ones produced by Turteltaub-Orenstein,like "The Masquerade Party",and "The Stung",but most of Turteltaub-Orenstein produced episodes lacked the zazz the Aaron Ruben produced episodes had.And why did they turn Fred into such an old grouch(especially in the latter seasons-I've heard that audiences liked him grouchier.)And I also liked the Aaron Ruben produced episodes better, because they did NOT (nor did episodes "The Masquerade Party"and "The Stung")include Fred doing his,as Rollo said "jive imitation of the Ink Spots"(the Ink Spots were a 1930's singing group).Once was okay, but it became a recurring gag that got old fast. Also, the bit where he said "I'm Fred G.Sanford, and the G stands for ...(whatever)"got old too.I liked it better when he said "This is Fred Sanford. That's S-A-N-F-O-R-D period."

The simplest way to describe the differences between the show when Aaron Ruben produced it (Seasons 1-3) to when Saul Turteltaub and Bernie Orenstein produced it (Seasons 4-6) is that the Ruben produced seasons concentrated more on story based comedy whereas the Turteltaub and Orenstein produced seasons concentrated more on one-liners and silly stuff.
