Just heard on ESPNI don't know that I would have let him go for a measly 5th rounder. I think the Rooneys have just made a statement, they are not going to put up with players sh*t. Santonio is a great reciever, but he is also a thug, that can't stay out of trouble. The Jets think they got a steal, just give Holmes time and he will show his ass again.

I don't know but almost immediately after the trade the NFL announced that Holmes is suspended for the first four games of the season.

The Steelers are sick and tired of putting up with players' irresponsible behavior. They're trying to send a message. They were prepared to simply release him if they couldn't get a draft pick for him.
