Yes, this pic came from his tv series Time Trax. Time Trax was a very short lived scifi tv show. I think it ran from 1993-1994.
< That little old lady, Mrs. Trumble, was in real life Elizabeth Patterson. >
And according to imdb.com she was born in 1875 (making her 80 years old before her last appearance) in Savannah, Tennessee, the daughter of a Confederate veteran. Her first film credit is listed as 1926, making her 50 or 51 at that time.
merry 02-06-2002, 11:51 PM Lucy's mother. she was one character I didn't like. She tended to make fun of Ricky specially in the hollywood episodes/ Why didn't she tell lucy and ricky that Hedda Hopper was her friend?
instead she snapped at Ricky when he asked why didn't you tell me your friend was hedda hopper. her reply You didn't ask me/ Also she never got his name right. always called him Mickey. In one episode she writes a letter to ethel for she can't find lucy's address for the phone book doesn't list a Mickey Richardson
Mrs Trumbell was a sweet nice lady. She helped the Ricardos a lot caring for little Ricky. When you think about it Mrs TRumbell was little Ricky 2nd mother.
ItalianBread 09-16-2003, 05:05 PM Lucy, Lucy, Lucy.

SPLAIN 09-17-2003, 08:52 AM Lucy, then Ricky, then Ethel, then Fred, then the others, the reverse order in which they were introduced, always saving the BEST for last!
*ShortCake* 09-17-2003, 10:15 AM Lucy :) Then Viv, Then Desi, Then Bill, then the rest of the bunch.
SPLAIN 09-18-2003, 01:02 PM It's still too close a vote, i think they're using Florida chads leftover from the last Preesidential election, LOL!
Amber8611 09-18-2003, 03:59 PM I voted for Lucy. :) In order it would go:
1. Lucille Ball
2. Elizabeth Patterson (Mrs. Trumbull was such a sweet old lady!)
3. Desi Arnaz/ Vivian Vance (it's a tie, lol)
4. William Frawley
5. Little Ricky
They're all awsome though!
crazyredhead 09-18-2003, 04:13 PM you like Mrs Trumbull better than Desi?? *coughs* lol
*smiles at avatar* :)
Amber8611 09-18-2003, 06:12 PM Oh, don't get me wrong, I LOVE Desi! I just like the Mrs. Trumbull character better than Ricky for some reason. Elizabeth Patterson was so funny at times! (She cracks me up in "Ricky's Movie Offer," lol.)
MagsLovesLucy 09-18-2003, 06:40 PM Lucille Ball
Desi Arnaz
Vivian Vance (very close behind Desi)
Bill Frawley
Keith Thibodeaux/Elizabeth Patterson
I don't know...that's about right. I'm bad at deciding like this, lol.
Brian Damage 09-18-2003, 06:56 PM I liked William Frawley
SPLAIN 09-19-2003, 09:56 AM I loved Mrs Trumble best in the Lucy birthday episode, blowing that horn and throwing the confetti!

Yeah, and then calling the Tropicana and yelling at Ricky over the phone, LOL! She was also a hoot in "Ricky's Movie Offer" as the Spanish singer/dancer.

crazyredhead 09-24-2003, 05:22 PM The only place he was number one was as her number one husband, LOL! Lucy was the number one character on TV, the number one show, the number one comedienne, etc . . .
speak for yourself Claude! lol! j/k I know she is #1 to most people, but I still love Desi. :)
SPLAIN 09-25-2003, 09:50 AM You're so nice and polite about it all, i wonder if AFTER you've gotten a tape from me, if you'll still be so nice? LOL! Seriously though, did you ever see that Mysteries and Scandals special on E that featured Desi, saw it again last night and thought of you and Mickey right away. There's no escaping that he was very attractive, charismatic, empire builder, great entertainer and all that.
crazyredhead 09-25-2003, 03:51 PM hehe thanks Claude! :)
ahh man, no I haven't seen the Mysteries and Scandals thing, dang! It's not the one that had the interview of Desi was it?
Man, I wanted to see it! lol What was it about?
SPLAIN 09-26-2003, 12:57 PM Well, you just ASKED for that one, it was about womanizing, gambling and drinking heavily! LOL! Seriously, no it did not include an interview with HIM, but it did show a clip where he looks SO OLD, it was unreal. The rest was all stuff you'd like, his hey day as a conga pioneer and the King of New York nightclubs and all that. I promise when i make you your tape, it will be the first thing on there.
crazyredhead 09-26-2003, 01:05 PM LOL! cool!
Thanks Claude!
dlemond 09-26-2003, 01:09 PM Obviously Lucille Ball was the star of the show and her and Vivian made one of the best twosomes of all time.
But I think that everyone underrates the chemistry between Desi and Bill. I always enjoyed watching them together.
I would have loved to have seen another series starring Desi and William Frawley as other characters.
SPLAIN 09-26-2003, 01:36 PM Very true, the only thing i hate is that he always refers to him as old man, now i know he did the same thing with OTHER people, it was an expression but in our politically correct times, it's right up there with spanking, LOL!
Mickey 09-26-2003, 01:40 PM What's politically incorrect about 'old man'? It's always been said in Britain. Old man, old boy, old chap, old fellow. It's got nothing to do with age.
Seriously, though, in one of the episodes I was watching the other day (S1 vol 9 DVD, when Ricky is trying to hurry Lucy to get ready so they can go out), Fred walks in and says "Hi kids." If he can say that, then why not old man? Both draw attention to age! ;)
I agree with what was said above, anyway. I love a Fred and Ricky scene.

Yeah, but he was his buddy!
And it was definitely in an affectionate way.
You can always call your friends and family things you would never let anyone else call them.
crazyredhead 09-26-2003, 03:44 PM aww..yeah..hehe
He must have said 'old man' to him off stage too because when I saw a clip of Desi introducing the cats members to the audience he introduced Bill and he said, "Thank ya, old man, thank ya." But I haven't really paid any attention to that. *shrugs*
Lodee 09-26-2003, 04:07 PM I saw that too. I think it was on the 50th Anniversary show. I think he even called Little Ricky old man a couple times too.
SPLAIN 09-29-2003, 10:15 AM Hey, i was kidding guys, it's not like i've ever been politically correct myself, i hate the expression and what it's done to comedy in general. And yes, he even called Little Ricky that a few times. Maybe it's because i'm an old man?
Mickey 09-29-2003, 03:44 PM I thought you said you were 53? How's that old?! You're more than ten years younger than my father for goodness sakes. And by the sounds of things, in attitude considerably younger than my father!
Honestly Splain, you'll be claiming you're too old to do your own typing next...
crazyredhead 09-29-2003, 03:56 PM yeah Splain...if I hadn't had known your real age, I would have mistaken you in your twenties...LOL..which is good. :)
SPLAIN 09-30-2003, 09:45 AM That's very true, a 20 year old mentality in a 53 year old body, darnitall! It's not me Mickey, it's our society, everything is geared at youth, if you're over 49, you don't matter to programmers on Tv and in films, yet people are routinely living to be 80, 90, even 100 nowadays.
Mickey 09-30-2003, 10:10 AM Yes, I know. The sheer astonishment displayed by the programme planners when they realised that people wanted to watch Diagnosis Murder! A show starring an old bloke, with a middle-aged son. But surely all we want is vapid twenty somethings with no talent?!
SPLAIN 09-30-2003, 01:06 PM Yes, thanks for reminding me, i saw the first episode of Coupling and you were absolutely right, TERRIBLE, JUST TERRIBLE! It was the first ep where they establish the characters and everything so i may give them ONE other chance though.
Mickey 09-30-2003, 03:36 PM Always give a sitcom two episodes. In Coupling's case though, five minutes may well be enough!
SPLAIN 09-30-2003, 03:49 PM Yet the Brits have given us such great classic shows like All in the Family and Three's Company, to name just two!
Mickey 09-30-2003, 04:38 PM America nicked Three's Company off us? I thought we nicked it off them! Three's Company was better, IMHO, than the British version. Funny how sometimes these things get remade, and sometimes we just get the originals. Who's The Boss came over here, then became a British version called The Upper Hand. At first it was very bad, as it was just the same scripts pretty much, but with different actors. Once it found its feet it was very good though. On the other hand Mad About You never made it over here because we had our own version (so bad I've blanked out the name!). It was abysmal! The American Absolutely Fabulous and Fawlty Towers were disasters, and our Golden Girls was dreadful.
To get back on the subject, though, basically Britain isn't making good comedy at the moment. Coupling is far from being the worst. We've got good off beat comedies, that are not straightforward funny things, like The Book Group and Manchild, but out and out comedy like the old classics just aren't getting made. Our Will And Grace... yeuch...
SPLAIN 10-01-2003, 10:52 AM You know i watch reruns of Will and Grace and never tire of it, BUT, when will these people realize that they need OTHER characters too once in a while, i know, you're going to say I Love Lucy did very well with only four characters, but they did bring in GUEST stars to relieve the monotony, as they often do on Will and Grace, but i really think any ensemble show needs seven or more characters like Mary Tyler Moore or Taxi to never let things get stale. Just my opinion.
Mickey 10-02-2003, 05:05 AM Yes and no. Red Dwarf worked very well with just the basic cast (three plus the computer for two seasons, then another main character added). Often there would be no guests. Joking Apart, my all time favourite sitcom, had only the main foursome, with hardly anybody else at all. I guess it depends on the premise.
A good guest star can make an episode great though. They had some inspired guests on Mad About You - and, of course, on ILL.
SPLAIN 10-02-2003, 08:50 AM True, but King of Queens is a perfect example, always focusing on the couple and the father, more characters add more laughs, or a better chance of getting those laughs anyway!
