I like Maudie Prickett who plays Hazel's friend Rosie very much. Does anyone have any information on her? Do you like or dislike her character?

Maudie was a great character actress. She played in numerous shows, Jack Benny TV Show & Gunsmoke are 2 I can remember seeing her in besides Hazel. I've always wondered if Jonathan Winters got his character's name, Maudie Frickert, from the real Maudie Prickert name. She died several years ago, I believe in the early '80's, not sure of the exact date. But she was perfect as Rosie, hard to imagine anyone else in her role.

:talk: Yes, you're right. I just saw that episode 2 weeks ago and forgot to mention it. In the show when Lois & Clark go back to Lois' hometown and find the town deserted except for "Miss Tazey" I believe Rosie(Maudie)'s name is, and a couple of other strange townsfolk. "The Deserted Village" I think is the name of the episode of Rosie on Superman.

Maude also appeared in an episode of Dragnet during early 1970.
She was a landlord who rented a house to a narcotics pill maker.
She wasn't the bad guy (or girl) in this one though, so it kept up her "good girl" image.

No offense to anyone, and nothing personal...but Maudie Prickett has to be one of the most nasty sounding names I've ever heard!

:) I just saw "Rosie" in a Bob Hope movie, "I'll Take Sweden". It was recently on TCM. She played a brief role as a overly romantic partner for Bob. Bob wasn't thrilled.

Maudie Prickett died in 1976 at the age of 61, according to IMDB. She also appeared on a few eps of Bewitched, including twice as Tabitha's teacher, under a different character name each time.

She did not play Mrs. Carmody in The Adventures of Superman even though she is listed in the credits of that episode.

I loved the way she played Tabitha's teacher. She was so funny, and made a lame episode interesting.

Maudie Prickett also has a notable appearance on the first season of the Doris Day Show as one of two sisters (the other being the considerably older Estelle Winwood) out on the prowl for valuable antiques. Maudie also has a bit part in Doris' last film WITH SIX YOU GET EGGROLL (1968) and I believe she made a few appearances on MAYBERRY RFD as a reoccuring character in the early 1970's.

I always loved Maudie's performance as Rosie on Hazel. She also had a recurring role on Betty White's 1957-58 sitcom Date With The Angels. She played Vicki Angel's (Betty White's) next-door neighbor Cassie Murphy. Her on-screen husband was played by the great character actor Richard Reeves. This short-lived (33 episode) series also featured Nancy Kulp, Burt Mustin, Jimmy Boyd and Richard Deacon in recurring roles.

I remember her on The Andy Griffith show.

Maudie also played Jack Benny's secretary Miss Gordon on eleven episodes of The Jack Benny Show in the early 1960's.

Rosie was a nice character and needed, as it adds to the overall texture of the show for Hazelto have other maids in her friend circle. Would have like to see this area expanded on in the show-but the show was still rich and great fun without this.

I love Maudie as “Rosie” in Hazel! 2 of my fave Rosie eps are the one when Hazel & Rosie are fighting over the smoldering Latin Chauffeur & Rosie tries to embarrass Hazel by bringing her a “no hard feelings present” which turns out to be red rinse for Hazel’s hair! The other great Rosie Hammecker moment is one of the 1st episodes when the neighbor nearly gets married off to a shrewish gold digger friend of Mr. Baxter, & Rosie overhears her scheming in the beauty parlor! The look on Rosie’s face under the hair dryer is priceless!

Some of the other maids were interesting as well: Roberta the crusty housekeeper for Herbert and Harriet Johnson. Also the baritone singing maid who sings “to end our slave—er—ee” anyone know who played her?
