New York, New York, April 6, 2010 -- TV Land kicks off the summer in a sizzling way with exciting new PRIME originals including the long-anticipated sitcom “Hot in Cleveland,” an unforgettable tribute to director/producer Mike Nichols, the addition of the hilarious sitcom “The Nanny” and unforgettable movies. It all kicks off on May 5th with the second season premiere of “How’d You Get So Rich?” starring the hilarious Joan Rivers. Then, on June 16th, from the writer of “Frasier” - Suzanne Martin - and produced by Sean Hayes (“Will & Grace”), TV Land debuts the first scripted sitcom for the network, “Hot in Cleveland” starring Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, Jane Leeves and Betty White. Shortly after, on June 27th, TV Land will air an exclusive celebrity-filled soiree honoring the career of legendary filmmaker Mike Nichols – who has worked with the likes of Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks - with the “TV Land Presents The AFI Life Achievement Award: Mike Nichols.” On August 25th, television’s only modeling competition for women 35 and older returns with notable new celebrity host - Brooke Burke - and a new supermodel judge Roshumba Willliams.

TV Land will air the American Film Institute’s (AFI) Life Achievement Award tribute – the highest honor for someone with a career in film – to director/producer, Mike Nichols, on June 27. Mike Nichols is a legendary filmmaker who has worked with acclaimed actors such as Meryl Streep, Dustin Hoffman, Tom Hanks, and Julia Roberts. Nichols has directed renowned films including: “The Graduate,” “Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf,” “Working Girl,” “The Birdcage” and many more. The gala tribute will be taped in Los Angeles on June 10, 2010. Every year this prestigious honor is presented to a single honoree. The first recipient of this award, John Ford, is joined by a list of highly respected recipients that includes Warren Beatty, Al Pacino, Sean Connery, Meryl Streep, Robert De Niro, Barbara Streisand, Harrison Ford and Michael Douglas.

Fran Drescher starred in this beloved ‘90s sitcom as Fran Fine, a bubbly and nasal-voiced Queens native who becomes the nanny to three children of an upper-class Manhattanite. Fran’s nurturing style included out of the ordinary techniques coupled with a tell-it-like-it-is attitude which made the children – and eventually her boss – fall in love with her. Fran Drescher was nominated twice for an Emmy® and the show received countless awards.

Cosby Show is replacing Home Improvement in primetime.

Okay, I love The Cosby Show, but Home Improvement needs to stay in the Prime slot. They can cut down the Roseanne episodes to 2 instead of showing 4 and put Home Improvement in there with The Cosby Show and Roseanne.

I'm glad that they are bringing The Nanny to TVLand, but does that mean they are going to still show it on Nick at Nite?

The Cosby Show has not worked at 8pm in the past...probably won't again. It's a shame Home Improvement doesn't seem to be working out. As I mentioned before, I really think they should try HI at 11pm between ELR and Roseanne. At least put it on at 1am and do the Cosby encores at 2am. Only a matter of time I think before TAGS returns to 8pm.

Interesting to see the Good Times blocks on Saturdays...seems they are trying to maybe run through some episodes before the end of June (similar to what they did with The Jeffersons/Green Acres last August). Disappointing that there is no Brady Bunch on the weekends...especially if 5/31 turns out to be the end...

New York, NY, April 20, 2010 -- TV Land announced today that it has greenlit 10 episodes of the original sitcom “Retired At 35” starring esteemed comedy and drama actor George Segal. The sitcom is a TV Land PRIME original production and is the network’s second venture into scripted comedy series along with “Hot in Cleveland,” which premieres on June 16, 2010. Chris Case (“Reba,” “Spin City”) is the writer for “Retired at 35” and serves as an executive producer. Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis (“Rita Rocks,” “Reba,” “Titus”) are also executive producers.‪

“It is so exciting for us to announce TV Land’s second original sitcom,” states Larry W. Jones. “We are thrilled to work with this very talented and funny cast along with a great team of writers and producers. TV Land is committed to bringing funny yet meaningful shows to our audience and “Retired at 35” is the perfect example of that strategy.”

In the pilot episode of “Retired at 35”, David (McClain), a successful young businessman decides to leave the rat race of New York City behind and move into his parents’ (Segal and Walter) Florida retirement home to reconnect with them, re-evaluate his life and live the dream of retirement that so many are working toward. While in Florida, David reunites with his best friend Brandon, (McDermitt) and realizes that his former crush Jessica (Bathe) is still as beautiful and elusive as ever. Living close by is David’s sister, Amy (Wilson) who has finally found a boyfriend Paul (Champagne). Other characters include Alan’s friend, Richard (Wyner) and David’s boss, Donald (Burns).

The "Retired at 35" pick-up comes on the heels of greenlighting TV Land’s first original sitcom, “Hot in Cleveland,” a series that revolves around three fabulous, LA women of a certain age and best friends (Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick). Headed for a vacation in Paris, their plane makes an emergency landing in Cleveland where they find themselves in a new “promised land.” Loving their new home, they find themselves living under one roof and battling the sassy caretaker of the property they have rented, played by Betty White.

“Hot in Cleveland” is the network’s first original sitcom. It premieres on June 16 2010. Other TV Land original programming includes network franchise’s “High School Reunion,” “She’s Got the Look,” and “How’d You Get so Rich?” which makes its second season debut on May 5, 2010.

Recently seen on the popular HBO series “Entourage,” and in ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” Segal starred for seven seasons as Jack Gallo in the NBC ensemble comedy “Just Shoot Me.” On the big screen, he was an Oscar-nominee for “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and also starred in “A Touch of Class,” “The Owl and The Pussycat” with Barbra Streisand and “Fun with Dick and Jane” with Jane Fonda. He also starred on Broadway in “Art,” “Rattle of a Simple Man” and “Gideon.”‪

I guess everyone's watching Home Improvement on TBS. I know I do most of the time when I can watch it. Anyway, no big deal, it's still on at a good time on TBS. Schedule's ok I guess, still better than TV Land's been for a while up until recently

8:00PM - Episode #37 “Marie’s Meatballs”
When Raymond chooses his mother’s spaghetti and meatballs over his wife’s lemon chicken, Debra gets upset so with good intentions, Ray asks his mom to give Debra cooking lessons. Although Marie and Debra have fun in the kitchen, the meatballs lead Marie to believe that it’s only her cooking that keeps Ray coming by.

8:30PM - Episode #57 “No Fat”
Since Debra’s parents will be out of the country on Thanksgiving Day -- in Turkey -- Debra, Ray and the kids make plans to spend the holiday at Frank and Marie’s house. But their dreams of turkey with sausage, stuffing and yams with marshmallows on top are quickly shattered by Marie’s new heart-healthy diet. After she gets her hands on “101 Healthy Things To Do in the Kitchen,” life as the Barones have known it seems to be over.

9:00PM - Episode #143 “Call me Mom”
When Ray finally feels comfortable enough to call Debra's mother "mom," he wants Debra to reciprocate and start calling Marie "mom". After initially giving Ray a hard time about it, Debra rises to the challenge and heads across the street to try out her new "motherly" salutation on Marie. When Debra finally gets the words out, she is completely stunned at Marie's reaction.


9:30PM - Episode #144 “Mother’s Day, Part 1”
Debra takes offense when Marie accuses her of being rude and the two wind up fighting and not speaking to each other. When Ray tries to make things better by getting each of the women to apologize to the other, he only makes a bad situation worse. Then, the unthinkable happens (at least to Ray) – Debra decides she likes it when Marie doesn't speak to her and she intends to keep it that way.

10:00PM - Episode #145 “The Bigger Person, Part 2”
Now that Debra and Ray's mother Marie aren't speaking to each other, Debra goes out of her way to ensure that Ray doesn't spend time with his mother by waiting on him hand and foot so he prefers to stay close to home. When Ray realizes that he can benefit by exploiting this situation, he actually starts to like the fact that the two women aren't speaking. However, when Robert catches on to Ray's mischievous plan, he knows he must intercede and try to repair the now severely damaged relationship between Debra and Marie because Ray certainly isn't helping.


10:30PM - Episode #169 “The Shower”
Debra gives a bridal shower for best friend Amy, but her good intentions are sidetracked by Marie's overzealous participation. When Marie attempts to "take over" Amy’s wedding shower, Debra gets upset and yells at her, prompting Marie to leave in a huff. Returning to the party festivities, Debra starts drinking a little too much champagne and winds up being too tipsy to drive. When she can’t reach Ray on the phone, Debra decides to take a nap in her car with the keys in the ignition and is awakened by a police officer, who arrests her for drunk driving. When her license is suspended, Debra finds herself in a precarious situation when she’s forced to rely on Marie for help.

11:00PM - Episode #175 “Thank You Notes”
When Amy becomes annoyed that Marie is already asking when she’s going to send out her thank you notes from the wedding, Debra seizes the opportunity to convince her friend to join forces against her mother in-law’s reign of aggravation. Thrilled that she finally has an ally who can stand up with her against Marie, Debra’s plan is destined for failure when Ray and Robert beg her to make nice with their mother.

11:30PM - Episode #180 “Liars”
When Ray lies to his mother to get out of spending the evening with her, the lie grows when Debra and the twins cover for him. Then, Robert tries to spill the beans and even more lies are told. However, when Ray and Debra start lying to each other, they wind up having a huge fight about it in front of the family, until Marie amazingly breaks down their intricate deception.

The winner of 15 Emmy® Awards, “Everybody Loves Raymond” ran in primetime on CBS for eight seasons. The premise was born out of Ray Romano’s own life experiences of raising his children along with his wife, all while his parents and brother lived close by. In “Everybody Loves Raymond,” Romano plays Ray Barone, father of three and a sports writer for a local newspaper. Patricia Heaton plays his wife, Debra, who endures her husband’s overbearing parents played brilliantly by Doris Roberts and the late Peter Boyle. As in real life, Ray’s brother Robert, played by Brad Garrett, is a policeman who lives with his parents.

Too bad about 3rd Rock, they didn't give it enough of a chance again. Apart from that it's a decent schedule

3rd Rock has never worked for them.

It's a shame, the sitcom marathons are now down to 3 days a week. Weekend mornings (when they used to show the older shows they didn't air during the week) are a wasteland now too. :( I wish they'd replace Sanford and Son's marathon because it already airs at night.

Tuesdays is starting one week earlier:

Tuesdays, effective May 11
9am-1pm Good Times (replaces 3rd Rock from the Sun)

Come June...the weekday morning sitcom blocks will be down to 2 days a week:(

Looks like The Brady Bunch will NOT be renewed and replacing it on Thursdays will be Gunsmoke (9a-11am) and Bonanza (11am - 5pm)---like on Fridays.

Sad, but not surprised about The Brady Bunch. I was guessing it would be replaced with the return of Hillbillies/Beaver/Hogan though. It's a weird looking morning schedule with 2 days of westerns, 1 day of movies, and 2 days of sitcoms (Good Times/Sanford and Son). I wonder what will happen in July if Good Times departs?

The last episode of The Brady Bunch will be the last episode of the series.

Dang. I can live with The Brady Bunch leaving, but it's frustrating as the only decent marathon in the morning is Good Times. Why can't they show Hogan's Heroes or Leave it to Beaver again? Now weekday mornings are as bad as weekend mornings.

I still do not think Good Times will be renewed. Watch it be replaced with All in the Family. At least Bewitched is working.

A change to the June schedule...

No more morning marathons, back to a daily regular schedule for weekday mornings (return of Norman Lear block). Plus...one less hour of Paid Programming!

Starting 6/1 (Tuesdays - Fridays only, movies remain Monday mornings)

8am- Boston Legal (replaces Paid Programming)
9am- All in the Family
9:30am- Good Times
10am- Good Times
11am- Sanford and Son
11:30am- Sanford and Son
12pm- Gunsmoke
1pm - 5pm- Bonanza

3:30am - 5am- Three's Company
5am/5:30am- M*A*S*H

I don't like it...Leave it to Beaver and Hogan's Heroes keep sitting with no airplay. Instead of Sanford and Son, why not air Andy Griffith or something that isn't already airing at night?
With Good Times airing regularly, I wonder if it will be renewed?

I am surprised The Cosby Show has lasted.....I was thinking, I wonder if they could air Married With Children for a while again from 8-9. That would work well leading in to ELR.

The Beverly Hillbillies is on the bench too. I don't get the impression that they like to air TAGS earlier than 4pm on any day. I think it's only a matter of time before it and MWC come back to weekdays.

I don't know about Good Times, they might just want to go thru the rest of the episodes. They'll pretty much to one cycle of the show between when they brought it back in April and the end of June.

The worst part of the schedule update to me is...
1.) One less hour of sitcoms, and one more hour of westerns.
2.) Off the clock! This is not good for viewers who only want to watch an episode or two.

I know Hillbillies is on the bench, but at least it airs on WGN. I was so excited to see Hogan's on TV Land, and it's been pretty inconsistent in the last year.

I'm surprised All in the Family has lasted this long at 6PM [it never has lasted that long in the evening, IIRC].
I bet The Cosby Show isn't doing great. TAGS needs to air in the evening and MWC from 8-9PM.

Maybe if/when Good Times expires they'll consider bringing one of the shows on hiatus back.
