My mother's favorite scene in AITF was when Mike was sitting on his bed putting on his shoes. From bare feet, he put on a sock and then his shoe, and then he did the other foot the same way.

Archie saw him do this and was giving him a hard time about it, because he, like most people put on a sock and a sock, and a shoe and a shoe. Archie wouldn't let up after Mike told him (rightfully) that it doesn't matter, but Archie wanted him to do it his way.

I thought it was pretty funny too. If you saw someone put socks and shoes on like that, would you ask them why?

I don't think I'd notice or care, but I liked Mike's reply about how he could keep one foot dry outside by hopping around. :lol:

That was hilarious.

LOL! That was hilarious!! I was laughing because that kind of thing would bug me as well. Mike was weird with everything, but that scene was priceless. I believe that scene also started out when Archie couldn't believe he was still sleeping when it was time for them to go fishing. He walked in and said,Oh Look at Rip Van Meathead!" LOL! That was so funny!

Great scene; really highlighted the comic acting of both Reiner and O'Connor, and revealed a lot about the way these two interacted. Absolutely priceless.

I think I heard that this scene was actually based on something that happened in reality. I'm not sure whether Reiner actually put on his shoes that way or if someone else that O'Connor knew did. :)

For me, this is a great example of how the writers and the actors kept true to their characters. How many times did we see Archie discussing things with others that you didn't see anybody else chatting about? I think the more simple the situation, the greater chance for the laugh. There were many things Archie saw as simple every day folks facts and when Mike would cross the line of Archie's sensibilities, of course you knew we'd hear about it.

I think it also satisfied Archie quite a bit to think that he might be "schooling" what was supposed to be a very intellectual college student. I think of this scene often and others like the shoebooty episode and also the episode where the bar is being robbed and the robber makes the boys drop trou as it were. When Edith and Gloria come in, its priceless to me when Edith begins to "dress" Archie and he quips something like, "I know where everything goes there Edith".

I don't think I could stand it if someone like Archie in real life nit-picked me to death over something so trivial as how shoes and socks are put on. Funny scene though. :lol:

I don't even remember the name of the episode.

Only Archie would make a big deal over something like that - but I gotta admit I do it Archie's way (sock sock shoe shoe)
