Jimmy Kimmel to Host "Lost" Finale Special
April 2, 2010 | By: Scott Harris

For the last six years, fans of "Lost" have been desperately trying to figure out the seemingly endless number of mysteries presented by the convoluted cult hit.

What do the numbers mean?
Where did the polar bear come from?
What is the smoke monster?

Now, as these questions are finally being answered, the biggest question of all is about to be addressed: What does Jimmy Kimmel have to do with it?

Well, wonder no more: According to Entertainment Weekly, the host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will be following the "Lost" series finale with a post-show special featuring live interviews with the show's stars as well as with the masterminds behind the mysteries, "Lost" executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse.

This isn't new ground for Kimmel, who has been one of the show's most high-profile fans, frequently interviewing cast members, creating "Lost" spoof videos and even traveling to the set in 2005 for an extended behind-the-scenes look at the filming process.

Despite Kimmel's relationship with the show, however, the idea of a post-show live episode does carry some risks:

A similar special hosted by Jay Leno immediately following the series finale of "Cheers" famously turned into a network embarrassment for NBC when the overly jubilant cast got decidedly drunk on camera.

Of course, that was perfectly in keeping with the bar theme of "Cheers", so here's hoping history doesn't repeat itself. Otherwise, Kimmel may find himself interviewing the most unexpected "Lost" star of all: a giant pillar of murderous smoke.

You can find out for yourself when Kimmel's "Lost" wrap-up show airs at the special time of 11:35 on May 23.

Jimmy Kimmel Will Show Three Alternate Endings in Post-"Lost" Finale Special
by Gary Susman
posted May 7th 2010

Sometimes, a show ending its run will shoot several possible endings to foil spoiler spies. In the case of "Lost", however, the alternate endings may just turn out to be joke fodder for Jimmy Kimmel

Variety's On the Air blog reports that "Lost" gurus Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have come up with three alternate series endings, all of which will be shown on Kimmel's hour-long post-finale special on May 23.

Lindelof and Cuse won't be appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost", since they've reportedly promised to go into seclusion after the 2 1/2 hour finale airs. But several current and former cast members will be appearing on the show.

Among those visiting Kimmel's studio are:

Naveen Andrews (Sayid Jarrah)
Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert)
Alan Dale (Charles Widmore)
Jeremy Davies (Daniel Faraday)
Emilie de Ravin (Claire Littleton)
Michael Emerson (Ben Linus)
Matthew Fox (Jack Shephard)
Daniel Dae Kim (Jin Kwon)
Terry O'Quinn (John Locke)
and Harold Perrineau (Michael Dawson)

Also scheduled to appear on the show, but apparently beamed in from elsewhere (a flash-sideways reality, maybe?), are:

Jorge Garcia (Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes)
Josh Holloway (James 'Sawyer' Ford)
and Evangeline Lilly (Kate Austen)

ABC claims it has received more ticket requests for this special than for any previous show in Kimmel's seven years as the network's late-night host.

"Aloha to Lost" airs at 12:05AM, the culmination of what will be (except for your half-hour local newscast) a solid six-hour block of "Lost" programming that Sunday night.

Let's hope Kimmel's hour includes some tips on how to get through "Lost" withdrawal.
