ABC's "Ugly Betty" is through at the end of this season, and one of its cast members said he believes the show had a lot more seasons in it, if ABC had done more to help it out.
Tony Plana, Betty's dad on the series, told the Palm Beach Post that "Betty's" critical success should have been enough to prove the show's value.
"It should have run longer – it was one of the most critically acclaimed shows. What was an experiment turned out to be a hit, and it deserved a longer run, based on the accolades. I don’t think enough was done to sustain us on the air," he said.
Despite the cancellation, Plana said he hopes other networks will embrace multicultural programs like "Betty" in the future.
