My late uncle was the one that got me into watching this cable station. He would always watch shows like The Addams Family, The Munsters, The Andy Griffith Show and The Beverly Hillbillies. I spent a lot of time watching these shows on TBS with him. He also liked WCW Wrestling. Once in a while, I will still watch Saved By The Bell from 7am - 9am. I wish TBS was still the way it was because now a days, I barely watch it anymore. Back from 1980 - 2003, they had a wonderful variety of shows and movies. I also used to watch The Pink Panther, Bugs Bunny, Taz Mania and Captain Planet. This was before the cartoons were taken off TBS in 1998.

Here is a sample of the 4pm - 8pm block from November 1979:
4:00- Spectreman
4:30- Gilligan's Island
5:00- My Three Sons
5:30- I Dream Of Jeannie
6:00- Carol Burnett And Friends
6:30- The Bob Newhart Show
7:00- Sanford And Son
7:30- All In The Family

I remember those days. I would have TBS playing as soon as I got home from school. It's too bad it isn't like that anymore.

I would actually argue that TBS is comparatively decent still compared to the decline NAN and TV Land are on. They obviously don't have the classics any more but at least they have a wide variety: Married with Children, Saved by the Bell, Fresh Prince, House of Payne, According to Jim, Just Shoot Me, Home Improvement, Yes Dear, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, Friends, The Office, Seinfeld, Family Guy, My Name is Earl, Sex and the City, and The Steve Harvey Show. There's a lot of variety there from the last 20 years.

Not to mention that shows like Home Improvement, Seinfeld, and Friends are older now than I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan's Island, and The Bob Newhart Show were then respectively.

GOOD POINTS! Very true. Although, I must say that I still miss some of the past TBS schedules and shows. For example, I remember watching Scooby-Doo at 7AM on weekday mornings. When Gilligan's Island was on Saturday mornings from 8-10 around 1998-1999, when Family Matters aired from 8-10 Saturday mornings around 2001, when they had Turner Time. I loved watching Full House, Family Matters, Fresh Prince (which they still have), Mama's Family, Saved by the Bell, etc.

I actually think their schedule today is very good except that, obviously, I would still love for some of the older sitcoms to be included. Oh, and I loved waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch Bosom Buddies from 6-7 around 2003, if I recall correctly.

Most of the current shows are in local syndication anyway. I have 2 or 3 channels that already air them.

TBS introduced me to Seinfeld and the Office so I have no complaints-LOL

I like some of the movies they show on TBS, plus they have Married with Children blocks in the early morning so i watch that alot.

They thought that, let's say you tuned in for a show you really liked such as Full House at 5:05, it would end at 5:35.

Then, you would have already missed 5 minutes of any other program beginning at 530 and would just keep watching TBS.

This whole 5 min past the hour phenomenon has come to be known as "Turner Time."

It never stopped me from turning the channel on the hour if there was something I wanted to watch. It probably wouldn't have as much of an effect today with all the DVRs and such.

TBS isn't too bad of a network. I like to watch Seinfeld and Family Guy reruns on it.

I still watch stuff on TBS, but not as much since their last schedule change. They have great shows, but the timeslots they air them in is confusing.

I remember when cartoons, movies, and sitcoms aired on TBS. I remember The Flintstones airing at 2:05 and 2:35pm CT, follow by Scooby Doo, and I think Popeye. I remember when I was getting ready for school on weekday mornings, I would watch Gilligan's Island and Bewitched at 7:05am and 7:35am waiting for the school
bus. This was in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I also remember CHiPs and Mama's Family airing on TBS, but it was in the early morning hours. I miss TBS.

Sorry for the double post. It was the cause of my slow Internet connection, but I miss the old days of TBS in the late 1990s until 2003. Those days are gone and never coming back. I do watch Family Guy, Home Improvement, The Steve Harvey Show, though, but I can't stand The Office.

I'll be honest, I think TBS has gotten better. I mean I know people talk about how TBS and USA Network have changed but I think TBS has gotten better. I used to like when the NWA/WCW Wrestling was on there but you have to admit the programs they have now are some classic shows. Friends, Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, I mean those were huge hits. Also they are MLB and now the NCAA Tourney, plus Conan. I just think its pretty good now.
