View Full Version : 15 Years Ago Today - Tex-Mex singer Selena killed by her assistant. catlover79 03-31-2010, 11:15 PM :rip: Selena! catlover79 03-31-2010, 11:20 PM Yolanda Saldivar, who shot Selena Quintanilla-Perez to death, is serving her life sentence in Gatesville, TX - she may be eligible for parole in 2025. Selena was survived by her parents, brother, sister and husband. Selena's widower, Chris Perez, remarried in 2001 and had two children. He and his second wife have since divorced. Selena would've turned 39 on April 16. Marvo301 03-31-2010, 11:21 PM Wow! Has it been 15 years already? Rest in peace Selena. catlover79 03-31-2010, 11:24 PM Wow! Has it been 15 years already? Rest in peace Selena. Incredible, isn't it? Yes, it was March 31, 1995. I remember that day so well. My grandmother was terminally ill (though my siblings and I didn't know it yet) and was staying with us. The very next day, there was a blizzard and Grandma had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance. Then a couple of weeks later came the Oklahoma City bombing. Not a happy time for my family personally or the country at large. :( JamesG 03-31-2010, 11:38 PM Not really much of a fan of her music but I've seen that Jennifer Lopez movie Selena which was good. When I first saw it I was wondering why they didn't show the murder scene, I wanted to see how they were going to depict it (what went down in that motel room). I then realized it was made a couple of years after her death and her family was over-seeing the movie so that was probably why it wasn't done in detail. catlover79 03-31-2010, 11:42 PM I own the movie on DVD (and it is by far and away Jennifer Lopez's best acting performance) and am glad they didn't re-enact the murder scene. The movie came out less than 2 years after Selena died - which makes you wonder how soon after her passing that the movie was put into production. The family probably wanted to do it as soon as possible before someone else got the rights. |
