This is a no brainer, with Mike and Gloria!!!!!!! Without them, the show became just average and kind of boring.

In a way, you are asking with or without Norman Lear. The Mike and Gloria episodes were all done under Norman Lear's genius and when he left, and the Stivics left, Carroll O' Connor took creative control and the Stephanie thing started. So to make a long story short (lol) the Mike and Gloria days. Archie is meaner and funnier.

Without a doubt - with Mike and Gloria.

I guess I'm the only one who prefers the episodes withOUT Mike and Gloria. I think the show got better when they left. I really didn't care that much for Mike and Gloria anyways.

Definitely with Mike and Gloria...hence the name All In The Family. Without them it was just another show. I remember hearing Norman Lear say that there was something in the stars that brought those four people together at that particular time...whether it be the cosmos or just luck...it worked!

The Mike & Gloria years were better by far! The show "jumped the shark" when Mike & Gloria departed. The main focus of the show was the difference in the views and lifestyles of the 2 generations. Once Mike and Gloria left, the main source of conflict left with them.

Perhaps it was important, to complete the cycle, to show how Archie and Edith handled the "empty nest syndrome". After that, however, the show languished in mediocrity while viewers (such as myself) longed for its demise. Such a shame that one of my favorite shows was cheated out of a dignified ending.

Definitley with Mike and Gloria. In my opinion, the show became a little more boring after they left.

I liked the shows WITH Mike and Gloria. I didn't care for Mike's character because I think he was a major meathead and a crazy liberal who really didn't have a clue about the real world, but without them who would Archie fight with? And the fights were the funniest.

Yeah, I don't like Meathead's (And Gloria's!) politics, but, lol, DEFINITELY, "WITH".

without the two of them, the whole premise of the show was destroyed...in fact, the premise of the show was destroyed when they moved next door... the best episodes of AITF will always be the ones in which they all lived under one roof.

How could anyone not like Mike and Gloria politics? They were for equal rights and treating people with respect. Works for me.

I hated and stopped watching once they moved to California and they brought Stephanie into the show.

^ It wasn't nearly as funny after they left. When I watch the reruns, I prefer the episodes with Mike & Gloria over the Theresa & Stephanie ones.

I don't agree with alot that Mike & Gloria said but the show was better with them.

The episodes with Mike and Gloria are the best. The show wasn't any good once they left. Infact, I think the quality of the series began to drop once Mike and Gloria moved out of Archie's house and into the Jeffersons' old house.

Although, I didn't like them that much, with Mike and Gloria. Because of the fights (like some people said) were the best and made AITF what it was.

Clearly, WITH Mike and Gloria.

Though I did like those last season episodes too.....
