View Full Version : Having surgery on Thursday
Courtnee 03-30-2010, 12:57 AM Hey all. I just wanted to let y'all know that I'll be having wisdom teeth surgery on Thursday, so I probably won't be here for a few days after that.
Please send good vibes my way!
Thanks. :)
ponytail 03-30-2010, 06:26 AM Sending good vibes your way! I had my wisdom teeth pulled a couple of years ago. It was a piece of cake, if you follow the doctor's orders. You'll do great!
catlover79 03-30-2010, 11:21 AM Take care, sweetie!! Are you having them all taken out at once? I had all mine taken out at once back when I was in high school. Just relax as much as you can and get used to the soft foods you'll have to eat the next few days (soup, mashed potatoes, Jello, pudding, etc.). :bighug:
gidgetgrape 03-30-2010, 02:01 PM Good luck! Hope you're feeling better soon.
OH Nuts! 03-30-2010, 03:24 PM Good luck sweetie! I just had one out a month ago. It was an upper wisdom so it wasn't a big deal as these things go. From what I understand the first 24hrs are the most crucial and you should take especially good care of yourself the first day - follow your dentist's orders to the t! Good luck and take good care of yourself during this time. The TV & DVDs helped me out a lot.
Retro4Life 03-30-2010, 03:51 PM Good luck. I'm sure all will be fine.
P.S. Make sure they don't take the wisdom with the teeth! I think that may be what happened to me all those years ago!
sunshinefizzy 03-30-2010, 05:12 PM Good luck!!! I'm sure you'll do just fine.
Marvo301 03-30-2010, 05:18 PM I wish you all the best for a successful surgery and a fast recovery.
MickeyMac 03-30-2010, 05:50 PM Dont worry about nothing. You'll be alright, just get some rest and relax for a spell.
Courtnee 03-30-2010, 06:43 PM I appreciate all the good thoughts, guys :)
LuLu Rogers 03-30-2010, 07:06 PM Good luck sweet girl! I had mine taken out about 5 years ago and they were side ways inside my gums, but the surgery was a breeze and I never took any of the pain pills they gave me, just Advil. My face was bruised and swollen, but I was up that night watching tv and begging for potato soup, LOL. ;)
Family Ties Forever! 03-30-2010, 08:31 PM Good luck.

I only used ibuprofen even though I did get an rx for codeine. I just did liquids the first day and was ravenous - so I got to give into something terrifically fattening that I love - egg nog. I only have it once a yr. but it was wonderful.
Courtnee 04-01-2010, 11:21 PM Hey guys, just wanted to pop in and update before I end up crashing for the night :p
The surgery went well. Even though the night before I slept probably 2 hours.
I started freaking out about the IV they were gonna give me, but they gave me laughing gas before and numbed my hand so I didn't even feel it. I was dead asleep the whole time and someone had to wake me up when it was over. It only lasted like 30 minutes so I was in and out pretty quickly. I didn't realize gauze and a numb mouth was gonna be involved so that was annoying. Then I came home, took meds, (tried to) eat soup, watched Netflix, and tried to sleep.
It was't so bad because my mom got me my favorite ice cream and a hello kitty coloring book. :p And my boyfriend was there to provide moral support which I totally appreciated. But it kinda sucked because everyone else ate pizza and I was stuck with soup and ice cream. :(
But I'm still in a LOT of pain and I've had to take the pain pills they prescribed to me. Honestly, it feels like my gums are giving birth to John Goodman right now, but I'll survive. Oh and did I mention Mother Nature thought it would be a god idea to start a monthly visitor today, too. Yeah. That's also fun. Not only are my gums in pain, but I'm cramping really badly. Thank God for Lortab, tho lol
Well, this is starting to become a ramble so I'll just end with thanking everyone again for the kind wishes and I'll try and post in between naps. :p
*Pleasant Tomorrow* 04-02-2010, 12:09 AM Glad to hear everything went well! I'm sure it isn't fun, but at least it's all over with now. :)
catlover79 04-02-2010, 12:33 AM So glad the surgery went well and that you are healing nicely. :bighug:

Glad you're coming along but sorry that there are some bumps. Try not to get too down in the dumps about the diet right now - just remember - there are lots of delicious things that are soft. Also a lot of fun things you can do to pass the time & the support of loved ones WILL make this go more effortlessly. Before you know it, you'll be your old self and your diet will progress back to normal stuff. Keep us posted!
