The caregiver for my mom has not seen quite a few '60s TV shows, although she has seen "Gilligan's Island."

I was curious if she would like "Bewitched" so I played a short scene for her. I decided to play a scene from the episode "I Confess." The scene in which Darrin and Sam tell Larry that she is a witch. The scene where she produces those mirrors, small and then big.

The caregiver liked it and was laughing. So I've been playing episodes for her the last few weeks. Including "If They Never Met," "Endora Moves in for a Spell," "Twitch or Treat," "The Trial and Error of Aunt Clara," "Bewitched, Bothered and Infuriated," "Long Live the Queen," "Toys in Babeland," "Samantha's Secret Saucer," and "Samantha Loses Her Voice."

All of those were episodes I taped years ago. She watched two on youtube... "There's Gold in Them Thar Pills," and a later episode because she wanted to see Adam, "Adam, Warlock or Washout."

A few observations from the caregiver: She likes Aunt Clara and Uncle Arthur a lot. She thinks that Endora was mean to Darrin (no surprise!). She likes Samantha and realizes that she is the focal point of the show. And she thinks always calling the police or military by Mrs. Kravitz was "terrible."

She thinks the show was well-written and acted. After 5 or 10 minutes of watching the show with Adam and the 2nd Darrin, she said she likes the original Darrin much better ("he shows more emotion and is funnier").

I will be playing more episodes for her this week. Next up will probably be "Samantha Goes South for a Spell." And I suppose I should run the first episode.

It sounds like your Mom's caretaker has good taste. She is absolutely right about the first Darrin. Dick York was a better actor than Dick Sargent and he had better chemistry with Liz Montgomery too! And Aunt Clara and Uncle Aurthur were two fun and lovable characters whom I also like.

...I would have shown your mother's caregiver the pilot episode first...then several of the first and second season episodes, 'Fleet'....then "What Every Young Man Should Know" (the one where Endora has Sam and Darrin experiencing what would have happened he had known she was a witch before their marriage)- then, maybe, "I Confess". It's perfectly acceptable to see "random" episodes, but if you get an idea of how the series evolved, and why it was so important for Darrin to keep his mouth shut about Samantha's heritage...but again, that's me. I'm just happy she's now a "regular" viewer.

As long as she hasn't seen that disappointing 2005 theatrical movie starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell (I'd tell her about it at your own risk ;)), she'll be happy!

I just remembered something... the very first clip I played for her was the last 30 seconds of the pilot episode. When Sam uses witchcraft to get her hairbrush. Then I played the opening theme so the caregiver could see that before watching an entire episode.

You should play the first season for her so she could see how it all began.
