I don't recall if I've seen a thread like this before or not.

How much does a movie ticket cost where you live?

I heard on the news that they just raised the price of movie tickets here. The price of a matinee(spelling?) ticket is now $9. A 3-D movie now costs $13.50. The later (regular non-3D) showings now cost $10.50 per ticket.

$8.50 ($6.00 for a matinee) But where they really get you is at the snack bar!

I have a theater about a block from my house that charges $5.00 for regular shows and $4.00 for matinees. :)

The going rate here in NYC is $12.50 but if you scout around you can sometimes find cheaper matinees (like $7.50 on a weekend). At that price, I usually just wait until something I like comes out on DVD....I only go to the movies maybe once a yr. (if that)

They've gone up recently. Matinee for an adult is $7.00, regular for an adult is $8.75. It's $6.50 for kids, Matinee and regular. There is a $3.00 Surcharge for 3D movies.

We had another theater that was older and when they built the new one, they turned that one into a $1.50 theater. Unfortunately it closed about 2 years ago.

Now movie tickets here are in the $9-$10 range. I would never pay that much for a movie. Lucky for me, my job give out supersaver movie passes periodically. I have like six movie passes I haven't used. But nothing really hasn't really appealed to me at the movies in a long time.

Last I knew around here its around $8. Since Hollywood hasnt made anything that has caught my interest in the least in so long, I dont bother about the price of going to see a movie.

Here it varies from $7.00-$7.50 for matinees and $10.00-$10.50 after 6 pm showings. It depends on the theaters. The theater that I got to most of time now charges $10.00 for night showings Sundays-Thursdays. Fridays and Saturdays it costs $10.25 and matinees are $7.25 and the early bird matinees which are the first matinee screenings of the day are $5.75.

I have the same thing except the matinee's $3. I really don't go to the movies much but when I do I usually go there.

Yeah, it really is.

I feel sorry for the lady who owns the theater. Her business isn't that great and it really isn't her fault. Most of what she shows are "chick flicks" and kid movies but that's because that's what Hollywood is putting out. Despite the very low price, I don't go that often because there is so little that I want to see, and that's a darned shame.

* - Adult $10.00
Matinee (All Shows Before 3pm) $8.00
Child $7.00
Senior $7.00
Student (Sun–Thur Only) $9.00
Military $8.00

* - that's adult ticket buyers, not adult movies

Now, this theater (in nearby Sarasota, FL) has tickets for:

MATINEE (Before 6:00pm) $1.50
EVENING (After 6:00pm) $2.00

That's not a misprint.

That theater usually features movies that have already been in release for a while. But still...

The lines are usually pretty long.

$4.50 at the "dollar theater" in town, $7.50 near my campus and $5.50 at the Flagship Cinema in downtown Auburn Maine.

I have no idea how much the 3D prices are since I avoid those gimmicky, overly expensive movies that will be a fad in 5 years time.
