The new series on Discovery Health called "Dr. G: America's Most Shocking Cases" will be profiling the Frank Olsen case Friday night at 8 pm central. Looks very interesting.

Did anyone else watch this? I thought I'd mention a few things about it. I'm not sure if anything I'm going to say from the Dr. G show was mentioned on UM as its been a while since I watched it. First off we all knew that he was a government scientist. This show mentioned specifically he was an Anthrax specialist who was working on a way to convert Anthrax into an aerosol to possibly be used as a biological weapon. The moral issues with that were starting to weigh heavily on him and for this reason he did submit his resignation in 1953 but they wouldn't accept it. Of course we all know he was unknowingly given LSD by the CIA. They did talk about the exhumation of his body in 1994 (41 years after his death). They saw no cuts on his face and neck which was the initial death report had mentioned. He would most certainly have cuts on his face and neck if he jumped through a window. They did see a large hematoma (bruise) above his eye which could not be explained. The NY DA did agree to open the case but some people disappeared suspiciously during the investigation. They ultimately said there was no "smoking gun" and couldn't prosecute anyone. They talked about the mysterious phone call Frank's hotel companion made which was mentioned on UM. They also mentioned the night before Frank's death he called his wife. It was a very casual conversation and Frank seemed very level-headed and told his wife he was feeling good. Hardly sounds like a man who would do something so irrational just a few hours later. One very interesting thing about the case is that apparently some CIA documents were made public back in 1997. These included some internal memos where it was talked of how to assassinate people by the CIA. The most preferred type was referred to a "contrived accident" and it was advised to hit someone above the eye and then throw them out a window. Sounds awfully familiar, doesn't it?
