Dear SHOUT! Factory, Inc.,
I have a proposal for SHOUT! Factory: to make a deal with Buena Vista Television, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company, for SHOUT! Factory to release a brand-new DVD compilation titled "America's Funniest Home Videos: The Complete 1st Season," showcasing all 17 episodes (including the hour-long pilot and hour-long $100,000 grand finale of the 1st season) from the debut season of the hit 1989-1999 TV game show "America's Funniest Home Videos" complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that the episodes originally aired on the ABC Television Network.
For 20 years, since November 26, 1989, "America's Funniest Home Videos" has given away millions of dollars in cash. The premise of the game has U.S. and Canadian citizens send in their funniest and most amazing home videos ever caught on tape -- most of which is purely unintentional -- in the hopes of walking away $10,000 richer.
At the end of each sweeps period, the top $10,000 winners vie for an additional $100,000 in cash.
After the show's first 10 seasons, in 1999, ABC had canceled "AFHV," citing plummeting ratings, only to bring it back less than 2 years later, on July 20, 2001, with Tom Bergeron hosting -- a job he still has to this very day.
Bonus Features I'd like to see on this DVD compilation include "20 Years of America's Funniest Home Videos," a half-hour direct-to-DVD featurette in which series creator Vin Di Bona shares his favorite moments from the last 20 years of the show, as well as the "Summit with Saget" episode broadcast November 29, 2009 on the ABC Television Network.
