Before we think about that, I am not bluffing here, I do have a contact at Virgil, I will need about a week for a total answer, but let me inquire and we will see their intentions with the series, I know they are going through some difficult times and releases have been delayed or abondoned, "Big John, Little John" a one season very niche 70's NBC Saturday mornng series with Robbie Rist was postponed 6 months, but as far as I know is still coming out in April 2010. I promise I will look into Donna Reed, as I have been collecting them as well. Seasons 1 thru 4 are owned by the Reed estate, while seasons 5 & 6 are controlled by Sony, so virgil may still do season 4, but after that, they probably can't afford Sony's license cost, so then Shout, since they already have a relationship with them might be the way to go, but I will look into season 4 plans or unplans first.

Well I am going by another poster's e-mail they received from Virgil, stating that Virgil no longer has any relationship with the Donna Reed estate, so they therefore cannot release season 4.

I just got an EMail from Amazon cancelling my Big John Little John DVD order. Apparently it will never be released, at least by the people who had designed the DVD and put it out for order. :(

Well as promised here is what I found out, but I'm afraid they are very vague at Virgil.....as for future Donna Reed, they didn't say their relationship was finished with the Reed estate as they are concentrating on "Fan Favorites", but wouldn't confirm or deny any future releases. Personally I got the vibe they are struggling, which is not a surprise......they wouldn't confirm the rare NBC series (scheduled twice) "Big John, Little John" was cancelled, but it looks like it is, since it can no longer be pre-ordered from amazon and people that did pre-order have gotten cancellation notices. I believe my contact at Virgil is trustworthy but it really seems without the person saying it, their days could be numbered. I am now going to send www.tvshowsondvd.com to inquire, they are very good at getting responses and looking into matters and rumors quickly.

I certainly dont want to rain on anyone's parade but does Paul Petersen even have pull. He dosent own the rights, and a suggestion by him may not be enough. Unless he can get the fans behind him. I am all in favor of the rest of this show coming to DVD.

Go Man Go! or as the legendary Carl Perkins would sing "Go Cat Go!" Might want to try and get Turner Classic Movies in on this one too...as May 2010 will be Donna Reed Month with over 30 movies and she is pictured on the cover (actually a rare sexy color photo ...just my humble opinion..lol) with an article in their subscription monthly movie guide...maybe they will post a link on their website, the series is mentioned and there is also a very nice color ad inside of the May issue for the first three seasons that says they can be ordered through their website.

up to about 60 fans or "likes", so it is kinda going rather slow...more word needs to get out. Anyone on here who is on Facebook, needs to come by and "like" the page. Paul has commented that a campaign like this may indeed be the spur to get the remaining seasons on DVD.

We are looking like 2011 will be the year.....Mary Owen has been in negotiations with MPI, who stated that are looking forward to releasing seasons 4 and 5 (the last two seasons under the control of Donna Reed and Tony Owen's heirs). It is not official yet, but when it is, I'll be letting Pavan know when he can make a blog post about it.

So great to hear that MPI will be the ones handling it. They are a perfect fit for Donna.

Seasons 6, 7 and 8 will be another challenge, but for now I am grateful we'll be getting all the Shelley Fabares episodes.

Good news, MPI always does a great job with their DVD's so I imagine their season releases of this series will be of better quality than previous ones.

^That's a main reason why the contract with Virgil lapsed....they were very unhappy with how the results came out.

I would like to say, not only is this a victory for fans of The Donna Reed Show, but it sure shows what Facebook campaigns can do for all classic TV show fans. Betty White on SNL, Donna Reed on DVD, WOW, who would have thought this could happen? :cool:

It helps when said campaign attracts the attention of those who have the ability to put things into motion... unfortunately my similar campaign for Petticoat Junction seems to be going nowhere.

Still waiting patiently for Season 4.....

Still waiting a few months later. All I care about is owning seasons 4 and 5 at this point.

I wouldn't get excited about this until DVD's have actually been manufactured and available for purchase. Some time ago, MPI announced a DVD release of My Favorite Martian season 3. Since that announcement, the release has been in stalled mode without further word on when those discs will be available.

On M.P.I.'s website under upcoming releases, the have a listing for The Donna Reed Show, a selection of episodes from season 4. No artwork or release date yet. The curious thing is, it doesn't say the complete season 4.
So, I don't know what this means.

Things are looking dim for us Donna fans. Everyone was in a delirious happy mood when M.P.I. took over now this. Season 4 MIGHT not be complete. F**k.
May have been better if SHOUT! took over we could've gotten seasons 4 and 5 by now.

Shout wasn't interested in Donna Reed when they were approached, so the family went with MPI, whom I wouldn't count out just yet. Remember when they went a year over schedule releasing The Mothers-in-Law and that turned out great. BTW I don't see any mention of Donna anywhere on MPI's website.
