During one of our Combine previews we featured a bruising offensive lineman from D2 Abilene Christian College named Tony Washington. The 24-year old, 6′7″, 300lb athletic anchor has an extraordinary resume from his college days but also has something on his record that is extremely hard to stomach or overlook: Dude had sex with his sister.

Not his half-sister. Not his step-sister. Not his adopted sister. Not his sister’s friend. Not his sister-in-law. Not some ‘pretty little sister from around the way’. His biological sister!

In May 2003 Washington had consensual sex with his 15-year old sister, was convicted of the crime but did not serve any jail time. He did receive 15 months probation for his actions though and will undoubtedly face a career filled with taunts and awkward questions. His sister will not speak publicly about the case but it is believed that the two have a good relationship - hopefully they aren’t as close as they once were!

Washington was 16-years old at the time and is still a registered sex offender, something that caught the eye of multiple NFL organizations last week during the combine. Some teams are willing to give him a chance but you could imagine teams like New York, Chicago and New England - where the media scrutiny wouldn’t be worth the risk - are contemplating taking him off their Draft Boards completely.

Washington’s former coach at Trinity Valley Community College, Mark Sartain, stated the obvious when describing his former player’s home life as ‘dysfunctional’. Sartain was willing to give Washington a second chance after he was upfront with the coach about his past. After his house was washed away during Hurricane Katrina, Sartain saw Washington as someone who needed the structure of a football field instead of a prison yard and allowed him to play at the school for two years before earning a scholarship to Abilene Christian.

Before this story became public, it was believed Washington, who had drawn interest from LSU in high school, was unable to gain admission to most D1 schools because of his grades and a bevy of personal issues during his prep career. Nobody would have thought sexual relations with his own sister would have been the main issue.

This will become more of a story after the Draft, when we know which organization Washington will be collecting his checks from and local beat writers take their stance on the subject. Until then, make up your own mind about Washington (featured in this article) and ask yourself whether you would want him on your team.

Absolutely no way... I'm big on character, and there's no way I'd let this guy anywhere near my team.

I don't think he intended reveal it. His registered sex offender status gave it away.

Double puke: puke: I'd be shocked if he had any kind of career now. Deservedly so, too.

It's not really a matter of revealing it. When a player is eligiible for the NFL draft (or any other pro sport's league) the teams dig for any information they can find about the player they are considering drafting. They leave absolutely no stone unturned. So it is almost impossible for any of these players to have any secrets.

If it was consensual sex between two people who are only a year a part, why were charges only pressed against him and why is he regisetered as sex offender?
