TV Guide's latest issue (March 22-April 4, 2010) has a feature article naming "TV's Top 50 Families of All Time." They've oddly listed the first 20 in the magazine and then ask you to check their website for the remaining families.

Where you might ask yourself would our favorite Nelson Family rank on this list? You know the one right? The "actual" family that spent 14 years on TV creating one of the most loved, iconic television families of all time? the one who was actually billed as "America's Favorite Family"?

Where did they rank on the list? They didn't even make the list!

Who did you might ask? Who could be considered more of a "TOP 50 Family" over the Nelsons? Well, let's see...the Kardasian's are there. So is the family from that show The Middle. You know that show right? Just started last year and has failing ratings? Yup, they made the list too.

If you're as outraged right now as I am, leave a comment on their website and let them know.

And then write a letter to TV Guide and let them know how disappointed you are. I'm going to, right after I cancel my subscription of 15 years.

Those TV Guide lists are always so mixed up. The people who think them up are probably about 25 years old and think 1995 is going WAY back in tv history. They probably have some silly demo they are trying to attract and skew their lists to fit that model.
The problem with TV Guide and their lists is that they really have no respect for the history of the medium. They are to busy trying to promote, suck up to and make more important some fleeting show on the air now.

I haven't liked TV guide since it went to that full lenght magazine style.

As far as I'm concerned, there has not been any such thing as TV Guide since 2005.

Though I don't have a TV guide anymore and I don't read their crap because of reasons such as this, I'M FURIOUS!! How dare they not list the Nelson's as one of the top families? They must be smoking something! As mentioned above, they probably are a bunch of young'ns that wouldn't know a good TV family if they bit them in the butt! The Nelson's should at the VERY LEAST be in the top five along with the Cleavers and Andersons. I see this is a big kick in the gut to the Nelson's...what a dirty shame!

I voiced my displeasure with TV Guide. I noticed about four other comments about Ozzie and Harriet being left off the list.

Sadly, this is typical of their STUPID lists, which always seem to be off...WAY OFF. In any event, the Nelson's are #1 on my list. On another one of their crackerjack lists, they rank The Twilight Zone at #26 on their list of greatest TV shows. #3 would have been more like it, imo, right behind I Love Lucy and All In The Family.

The article was probably written by someone too young to remember the Nelsons - and sadly, the show is rarely shown in syndication. I don't know who to blame for this. If your show isn't on, people forget it. I Love Lucy is always on!

TV Guide tries to much to emulate Entertainment Weekly.......who might have been even wise to include the Nelsons had they done such a list.....but then again...

With the execption of Michael Logan, the writers for TV Guides are idiots who worship at the alter of fellow idiots like Dave Lettermen and Jerry Seinfeld. They wouldnt know a classic TV if it slid up and bit them on the ass.

OH Nuts!

Sounds like a plausible and very nice spin AND as you wisely suggest...I pretty much ignore TV Guide anyways, but did want to note that this particular list was true to form for them (as in way off & lame)

That is surprising ... especially when you consider that Ozzie Nelson practically invented the situation comedy (The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet aired first, on radio, on Oct. 8, 1944)!

And it was on TV for 14 seasons.

Exactly. Just so many more reasons TV Guide is out in left field with their cockamamie lists.
