The first Romantically Challenged promo will air during DWTS this Monday on ABC! Will run 15 seconds, but still good! It'll air after a Greys/PP promo.

Sonny: True, but weeks 2 and 3 BBT will be repeats. I am hoping two (great) sitcoms can find an audience in the same slot.

I hope so. I like Alyssa Milano and I like multi-camera sitcoms the best. Hopefully ABC will give it a chance.

That review is a pleasant surprise. I say that because of the few other reviews I've seen have pretty much panned it. So I'm glad to see that there are people who find it funny and giving it a chance.

Traditional comedies always get panned by most critics. Even Big Bang Theory was panned when it launched. All of the new traditional ones were bad this season, though, so this is clearly the best one.

I'm hoping for the show to do well, but with how Hank fared, it's really hope against hope up to this point. *sigh* So much for my dream of creating sitcoms, if I did it now I'd never see a paycheck.

Just wondering on your thoughts of the pilot? Much better set-up of the three I have seen (for review). Now the other episodes make more sense and you all will enjoy it more. Glad ABC changed their mind.

I enjoyed it and thought it was hilarious. I actually didn't notice the "audience laughter" because I was laughing with them.

I've been reading comments from people who watched it and I noticed a common thread among the negative ones, that I don't understand. The thread being that it is a multicam show. I don't expect everyone to like Romantically Challenged, but it seems most aren't even giving it a chance because it's a "multicam" show. I just don't get why that style became such a bad format for comedies. Maybe because I grew up in the 80's/90's I'm used to multicam comedies, so I don't feel the same contempt for this style of show. I just don't see why it automatically lowers the level of entertainment value among certain viewers. When did this 'elitist' viewer emerge that only single cam comedies are funny or original? To be honest, I couldn't tell it was shot any different then the singlecam shows on tv.

I enjoy "Modern Family" but have not seen one episode yet where the storylines haven't been seen on other shows before. However, I get a sense that people enjoy it more just because of the singlecam style. All "MF" did was take 3 sitcom genres and merged them into one show, with the lame tv trend of having the characters talk to the camera. None of it original.

I agree with you, it bothers me that so many people automatically discount shows that are multi-cam, when multi-cams were once the bread and butter of television. we all grew up with them so why now are they all of a sudden so bad? i don't get it.

Personally, i loved this show, it was funny, refreshing and quirky. I liked all the characters and i liked the storylines. It was nice to see Milano in a comedy again after years of dramas and tv movies. She was great. Kyle Bornheimer was very good in this show, and was very, very good looking. Josh Lawson was a scene stealer. Some of the writing needs a bit of freshing, but overall i liked it. I laughed out loud a lot during this show.

I loved the first episode. Alyssa Milano is a living doll. That was a very nice review on the blog, Pavan. Do you know if we end up seeing her ex-husband (and his wife, lol)?

Pavan

No ex-husband this season, but hopefully next season! Alyssa was interviewed about that and she said she hopes to have Nathan Fillion play the ex-husband next season.

It is very lovable. I keep thinking next season they should do a Three's Company spoof. Perry is so Jack Tripper. Shawn is Larry. But hard to see who is Chrissy? Rebecca or Lisa?

I don't know - it's total viewers went up, but it's demo dropped again this week to a 2.5, which will probably be down to a 2.4 or 2.3 in finals. With a DWTS lead-in, and with BBT in repeat mode again, I'm not sure if ABC will see that as acceptible for renewal.

Pavan

Julie, DWTS was down as well (9pm half-hour was at a 4.5 this week, 5.0 last week). Same retention percentage in 18-49 and better in total viewers. I think it has sealed a renewal.

I am so happy to hear you say that. I love this show and was hoping ABC would renew it for another season. This show is great! i just hope they don't make the same mistake with this show that they did with "Samantha Who" and expect too much, too soon and try to make it lead off a night of programming. Samantha i think, would have had a season 3 IF they hadn't tried that failed Thursday night expierment with "In The Motherhood" (a doomed show from the start)... Had it not been moved it would have lasted.

That's true. Still, it's only doing slightly better than Surviving Suburbia was doing last year. I would love to see ABC give this show another chance, though. I don't think it's out of the question that ABC will give it 13 episodes for next season. Hopefully we'll see ABC branch out comedy to another night - if they don't, I'd be surprised. I'd love to see them give the Thursday 8pm hour to comedies. Tuesdays would be another option.
