Viggo Mortensen has reportedly replaced Christoph Waltz in the role of Sigmund Freud in The Talking Cure.

According to Deadline, Waltz left the project due to a scheduling conflict, leading Mortensen to take on the role.

The picture will reunite the Lord of the Rings star with director David Cronenberg, who directed Mortensen in A History of Violence and Eastern Promises.

The film is based on a play by Christopher Hampton and centres on the conflict between Freud and Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender).

Keira Knightly has also been cast as Sabina, an unstable young woman.

I'm sure the fact that it is Cronenberg and that he was left without his lead actor had something to do with it.

Not like he's coming back to star in The A-Team.
