He currently is listed as one of "New Jersey's 12 Most Wanted." In other words, he has never been caught.

I was curious about that statement as well so I read a little on wikipedia about him. I believe they knew it was him that died but his body wasn't claimed (at least for a while). Did that really surprise them - he murdered his family so who's going to claim his body? It did say he was eventually buried next to his mother. Another interesting thing I read was that John List was once thought to have been DB Cooper! Apparently some things were similar and I believe the hijacking took place only a few days after the murder. The police no longer believe it was him but an interesting bit of info nonetheless.

I honestly think Arthur Lee Washington is dead if he had aids in the 80s and stress of being a wanted fugitive it could have taken its toll on him

I think so too, he wasn't just HIV positive he had Aids so his life expectancy wouldn't have been more than a decade after the story.
