View Full Version : Peggy Bundy On 'Married ... With Children': Sexy or Trashy?
Brian Damage 03-05-2010, 12:13 AM Before Jaime Pressly stole our hearts in "My Name Is Earl," another trashy mom was steaming up the small screen.
Lazy, loud-mouthed Peggy Bundy may fall under the category of "trailer-trash sexy," but she got our hearts pumping all the same with her low-cut tops, high heels and spandex leggings.
What made Peggy truly hot was that she embraced her sexuality, frequenting strip clubs, enjoying pornography and relentlessly trying to seduce her husband.
While her equally sexy daughter (played by Christina Applegate) may have stolen the spotlight from time to time, there's no denying that Peggy Bundy was the original hot momma. More recently, Sagal won an Emmy for her portrayal of a tough biker mom in "Sons of Anarchy."

steevo 03-08-2010, 12:00 AM I just never got the running gag about Al not wanting to come to Peg every night. She was hot. :D
TV Knowledge Fan 03-08-2010, 12:32 AM ...was definitely not a "traditional housewife". She was a lousy cook and homemaker, and she lounged around the house all day. But she DID have a strong sexual drive (as well as a taste for "trashy" clothes); despite Al's frequent jabs about her inability to do virtually anything, and the fact he often expressed the opinion that being with her was akin to "living in hell"....there must have been SOMETHING about her that made him "stick around". I think of the episode where the Bundys had a barbecue- and every time Al sees Peg bending over- her rear in full view- he gets "excited", to the point that by the end of the story....

She have may been attractive but the point of the jokes was that Al hated how lazy Peg was. In his mind she could do a lot more if she wanted to but she didn't, all she did was sit on the couch watching tv and eat bon bons. She never cooked, cleaned, did laundry, or even took care of their kids. The only time I saw Al be completely affectionate to Peg in later seasons was the episode in the Labor Day episode I believe and she was cleaning and he got really turned on by her. The one other time was I think when a relative of his had died and it was said that the first male bundy who could procreate a child in so many months would get his fortune. I haven't watched the series in awhile so I might be wrong about these episodes but this is what I remember.

Thank you so much! :) I couldn't for the life of me remember the names. I appreciate the info.
irehtman 05-23-2013, 05:43 PM I don't know which episode contains her when Peggy and Al were sitting on the couch, when Al touched Peggy's butt and Peggy screams in horror! Not to be offensive.
Ohio8 07-05-2015, 04:21 PM Trashy.
SitcomsOffline 07-11-2015, 10:27 AM Kind of hard to explain, but it was her apparent "in your face" trashiness that made her sexy.
OH Nuts! 07-11-2015, 11:27 PM She had both qualities, kinda even steven
king of comedy 07-12-2015, 07:29 AM Yes she did and I enjoyed this show a lot more than Cosby.

Same way with Mr. and Mrs. Roper. Al and Stanley both always insulted their wives and acted like they weren't attractive. But both did stay right? It was like Henny Youngman, the old Vaudeville comedian! (Take my wife, please) ! Many of his jokes were insults about his wife. And he really loved her. It was just for the stage act! :) IDK if I would have liked being the butt of my husbands jokes like that though if I were her?
I am copy and pasting this from Wikipedia! Don't ya think Henny was the inspiration of the Mr. Roper and Al Bundy characters towards their wives? ;)
Youngman's wife, Sadie Cohen, was often the butt of his jokes ("My wife said to me, 'For our anniversary I want to go somewhere I've never been before.' I said, 'Try the kitchen!'", or "my wife's cooking is fit for a king. (gesturing as if feeding an invisible dog) Here King, here King!" Also, "Last night my wife said the weather outside was fit for neither man nor beast, so we both stayed home.") but in reality the two were very close, with Sadie often accompanying her husband on his tours.
Youngman remained married for over sixty years until his wife's death in 1987, after a prolonged illness. While she was ill, Henny had an ICU built in their bedroom, so she could be taken care of at home, rather than in the hospital (Sadie was terrified of hospitals).
Henny explained the origin of his classic line "Take my wife, please" as a misinterpretation: in the mid-1930s he took his wife to a show and asked the usher to escort his wife to a seat. But his request was taken as a joke, and Youngman used the line countless times ever after.
tlc38tlc38 07-17-2015, 10:27 AM New word: TRAXY (pronounced TRACK-ZEE)
Feel free to use it often!
robyrob 07-17-2015, 01:19 PM yeah, I don't understand why the word "OR" is in this question when she was so obviously BOTH sexy AND trashy.
Planet Claire 08-02-2015, 12:24 PM Peggy was attractive, but she was a lazy, good for nothing except for being a Gold Digger. He sole goal in life was to torment Al even in the bedroom. I think she was a little bit Sexy and a little bit Trashy.
