What are your favorite adventures that Lisa
embarks on?
Of my favorites is when they take Lisa out of her comfort zone because you get to see how incredibly resilient and resourceful she is. A fantastic episode that aired last year or the year before, when Springfield decides girls are no good in math and science, and she does a complete Yentl and excels. There is one where she and Bart go to military school, and the one thing she is really not good at is athletics, but sort of a dismal failure. If you need her to rally the troops, she is your girl. She is unstoppable.
Is it still fun after all these years?
It is great fun. I have such respect for the writing. And as an actor, when the writing is half-good, it's like being met halfway. When you do a part this long you are getting to know somebody. (When it ends) I think I will be devastated, like one of my best friends moved away. I get to visit this girl who I adore, who is quite separate from me but doesn't look like me. You have the animation and the writing; I am just one part of it. I just adore her.
Who have been some of your favorite guest stars?
Eric Idle. What I love about him is he is so game. Ricky Gervais was brilliant. I loved meeting Ludacris. I had just seen him in "Hustle & Flow" when that came out. Emily Blunt was lovely.
