One the first of this month, I started a thread called "A Second Rejection". This post was about an additional blow to Helen Hunt's self esteam after she was rejected for the part of Katie Kinisky! This time, it was for another NBC sereis that premired last night. Did any of you watch "Parenthood"? Although I felt bad about not getting to see Helen's pretty fact and girlish figure, I still thought it was a great show! Well, over on the "Facts of Life" page, I just read some posts about a show that ran oppisode "Parenthood" last night. This show was an episode of 20/20. The way that this pertained to the "Facts of Life" is that Lisa Whelshel who played Blair was in it. Even though I knew this before it was on, my interest in "Parenthood" caused me to pass on it. In any case, the fact that I am telling you all of this is because of five reasons that I can think of why people who frequent this page might also be interested in "Facts of Life". In the first place, they were both popular "Generation X" shows that were on the same channel and in some cases, even on the same night! I even remember cases in which some people got mixed up between which show was which! On top of this, even though Helen Hunt did not become our good friend Katie, she did make one guest appearance on a first season episode. Number three, Hazel Shermet who made three guest appearances on this show made two on "Facts of Life". Number four, Hazel's late husband Larry Rhine who was involved in producing and directing several episodes of this show was also quite involved with "Facts of Life". And last but not least, the actor who played the handsome athlete on the episode "Katie Steals Julie's Jock" went on to make one guest appearance on, you guessed it, "Facts of Life"!
