I'm going through the DVDs, season by season. I only have vague memories of the show when it was originally on, and don't have cable, so this is the first time I'm really watching. I just got done with S4 and will start S5 after I finish S6 of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. (So I get even more fun with Betty White!)

So whatever happened with Sophia's marriage to Max Weinstock? Did he eventually pass on or did they ever eventually legally dissolve the marriage?

Also, did we ever find out for sure if Sophia and Dorothy were biologically mother and daughter? Did the subject ever come up again?

Max and Dorothy decided to separate upon realizing they married for the wrong reasons, but didn't want to divorce, with Sophia "being so close to St. Peter's Gate".

Although Sophia supposedly took the results of the blood test out of the trash and looked at it, they chose never to speak of the incident again, so, who knows? :lol: Maybe Dorothy wasn't Sophia's daughter... :eek:

Thanks! I guess a clue is in one of the earlier seasons, where in a flashback, the grandmother was played by Bea Arthur - so I guess maybe they really WERE related.
