...enough to see how he's going to return tonight [and so would NBC- they've been "plugging" him enough for some people to think he was going to slide down a hill, score a goal or hit the ice in Vancouver!}. THEN, I'll let you know what I thought of the entire hour....

I recorded it but haven't watched it yet...but because of my ear infection and having to take meds, I conked out early.

....to me, Jay's return on Monday felt like putting on an old pair of loafers after an extended period of time- comfortable, but after a while, you forget you're wearing them. The opening "blackout" parodying the end of "The Wizard Of Oz"- Jay wakes up in Dorothy's bedroom, everything in sepia tones, having just come back from his visit to 10pm (yes, he's "home" after that incredible frightening exprience), with Kevin and "Ross the Intern" around him - was amusing. Betty White had the best line when she looked in through the window, and observed that NBC really cut their budget...there was a segment about Jay supposedly going to "strangers'" homes, looking for a new desk [oh, look, there's Adam Carolla with him]- the desk he revealed as the one he "chose", functional as it seems, might have come from Ikea; if you so much as slapped the top of it with your hand, it might collapse....then, business as usual, with Jamie Foxx (and all that champagne spraying out of his bottle) as his first guest. You would think that Jeff Zucker himself would have showed up to gladhand Jay, and officially welcome him back to 11:35-
no such luck. A good "return" show, though....but it seemed like, "Hey, I'm back!"/"Have you been away?".

The overnight ratings, though, gave Jay a more than comfortable edge over Dave and "NIGHTLINE".

I really enjoyed the Wizard of Oz parody at the beginning. I didn't think that search for the desk segment was all that great (though it was typical Jay) and I would have preferred the returned of a Monday night tradition (Headlines) instead. But all in all it was great to have Jay back where he belongs!
