CNN’s Anderson Cooper and CBS executives have met to discuss an anchor job at the network, the New York Times reports. The meeting is said to have taken place “months ago.” Katie Couric’s contract at CBS expires next year. Cooper’s agent and CBS have not responded to requests for comment.

I think Anderson Cooper would do a great job - and what a coup it would be if CBS got him!

...as he's already filed occasional pieces for the network's "60 MINUTES" over the past few years. That's more than I can say about Katie. She's competent, yes, but still....Anderson had a "sheen" about him that would reflect much better on the "CBS EVENING NEWS".
Of course, this could be nothing more than a bargaining ploy:
SEAN McMANUS {CBS News President}: Look, Katie, we'd love to give you a bump in your salary this year, but we just can't do it..
KATIE: You look, Sean. I....
SEAN: We're very interested in Anderson Cooper coming over from CNN to handle weekend duty on the "EVENING NEWS", and a few more "60 MINUTES" stories...
KATIE: And where does that leave me?
SEAN: You figure it out, cookie.
KATIE: You wouldn't dare....!
SEAN: Research shows that Cooper has a higher acceptance level with viewers-
KATIE: I don't give a **** what research says! You hired me to prop up your lousy newscast, and I held up MY end! Now you hold up yours!!
SEAN: You're sagging...in more ways than one.
KATIE: Sean, I'm going to-
SEAN: Quit? Go ahead. Cooper will take over from you the moment you walk out of here.
KATIE: You...you---
SEAN: You'd better get back to the newsroom...before your face falls any further.
KATIE: I want my bump in salary!
SEAN: Here's a bump for you...
[planting one foot on her rear, virtually shoving her out his office door]
{calling out} And don't come back unless you're willing to be sensible!!!
[slams door]
KATIE: Well, that didn't work. I loathe him.....
ANNOUNCER: Will Katie Couric suffer without a raise in salary? Is Sean McManus spending too much time as president of news and sports to be as uncouth and ruthless as he appears to be? Will Anderson Cooper be the next great CBS media star??
And what about Naomi?
The next thrilling chapter of "KATIE COURIC, GIRL REPORTER", will unfold tomorrow, at this same time....just make sure you're here!!!!

As long as Anderson doesn't bring Kathy Griffin with him, it should work out. ;) Anderson will bring his audience to CBS, and his mama, Gloria Vanderbilt, will be proud.
