As I've watched Leave it to Beaver over the years, I often began to wish that there would have been a spin-off consisted of a reorganization of characters. I would have LOVED to have seen a show called "The Rutherfords," featuring Richard Deacon (Fred Rutherford) and Madge Blake (re-cast as Mrs. Rutherford) with their sons Rusty Stevens (Larry Mondello...now Larry Rutherford) and Frank Bank (Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford), as well as their daughters Veronica Cartwright (Violet Rutherford) and Jeri Weil (Judy Hensler...now Judy Rutherford).
IF that cast were aligned into the "Rutherfords" show, I'll bet it would have stomped all over "Leave it to Beaver's" ratings...So, in a way, I'm glad it never happened...But, it would still have been quite a fun show to see...
So, there's my point. To make this conversational:
1) If you could go back in time and create a Leave it to Beaver spin-off; who would you cast and why?
2) IF computer technology allowed smooth editing of film and actors' voices in some sort of a program; would you wish to see these spin-offs one day become a computer-generated film reality?
I answered "1," so here's my answer for "2." I'd LOVE it...IF and ONLY IF, the creator of the computer generated TV show were a TRUE and dedicated fan of the original show, they kept the show in the original time-frame and they REFUSED to go outside of the parameters of the original vibe, feel, language and ethics of the original show. I WOULD BE VERRRY annoyed to see something like this occur technology-wise, ONLY to have some jerk cast a bunch of smart***ed voice-over "artists" spewing a bunch of garbage that would wind up tainting the image of the original show!
