La la la laa la, la la la laa! Rhoda is back for a second season of her life in New York City in Season Two of Rhoda, a four disc set containing all twenty four unedited episodes of the 1975-1976 season of the series.

Rhoda was, of course, a spinoff of the very popular series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Rhoda (Valerie Harper) lived in the same apartment building as Mary in Minneapolis, but for this series, she moved back to her home of New York City and married a construction worker named Joe (David Groh). For now, they are happily married, all the while dealing with Rhoda’s sister Brenda (Julie Kavner), her overbearing mother Ida (Nancy Walker), and her more sensible father Martin (Harold Gould). The series was nominated for several Emmy Awards when it aired, and even won two of them for its cast and crew.

Great news about season2 being unedited,I still think Shout,if they continue releasing Rhoda, should have a special disc with season1 episodes unedited .

That's good if the season 2 DVD turned out so nicely, but I won't purchase it unless they go back and re-issue the 1st season with all complete episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 of Rhoda were pretty good, but in the 3rd season it went downhill with Rhoda and Joe breaking up. The fun and charm which made the show a success was gone. Another case of a shows writers screwing up a good thing.

I have to agree with you, no point in owning a incomplete series, So stupid to have season 2 uncut but not season 1.

Shout Factory has had a recent history of releasing the first seasons of some shows (Rhoda, Father Knows Best, Mister Ed) with edited episodes. Then suddenly they are able to come up with unedited episodes for the second season, and so forth. This is only speculation, but it almost seems like they intentionally didn't put a full effort in these first season releases, maybe they released them to test the market and if sales went well enough then they were willing to continue with the series and put more effort and money towards unedited episodes for the future releases.

Maybe, at some point, they will release "a boxed set" (rather easy to do with a show like Rhoda, which lasted 4.5 seasons) and the first season will be with the complete, unedited eps?

I think that was a situation of "Making a stumbling block into a stepping stone". That's good because they were able to learn from their mistakes and fix them for the next time around so that something like that never happens again.

I'm disappointed about Rhoda season 1 also. But over all, Shout! Factory has an incredible track record, and I appriciate that they listen to consumers. Other studios wouldn't even respond to our complaints. I do wish they had atleast included the complete pilot episode with MTM, as an extra on season 2. Maybe season 3?????

I think when its Rhoda's 40th anniversary,we'll see the complete first season of Rhoda released.
