Dimension Films announced they're ready to get into the "The Six Million Dollar Man" business. According to a statement from the studio, "The Six Million Dollar Man" has been put on the 'fast track' with actor/comedian Jim Carrey ready to take on the role Lee Majors made famous in the 1970s on the hit TV series. Writer/director Todd Phillips ("Road Trip," "Old School") is onboard the project.
Commenting on Phillips and Carrey, Dimension Films Co-Chairman Bob Weinstein stated, "The teaming of Jim and Todd is the perfect creative combination to launch the 'Six Million Dollar Man' franchise. Todd is a director with proven instincts and Jim is a superstar."
Larry Gordon, Lloyd Levin, and Scott Faye will produce "The Six Million Dollar Man."

First of all since the original Six Million Dollar Man was a TV series and not a movie this isn't technically a remake. Secondly I wish Hollywood would leave classic TV shows alone. Find some original stories. Please!!!

Technically, That's incorrect. The Six Million Dollar Man started out as a movie (3 were actually produced) before becoming a series.

Yes, but it says in the article that this project is based on the TV series not the movies which preceded it.

You're right but regardless of that I don't want to see this movie especially if Jim Carrey will be playing Colonel Steve Austin.

I agree Charles. I don't want to see this movie either. Especially not with Jim Carrey in the title role.

With Carrey involved it sounds like they're going to try to make it like the Starsky and Hutch, or Dukes of Hazzard movie:barf:

I'm sorry but with Jim Carrey in the role, I don't think they can rebuild him. There is no technology good enough for that.

I could care less about the movie but if this could get the TV series to DVD faster--I am all for it  The same for Shazam!

 I don't care that Lee Majors is in his 70s now - get him to do the movie and then I'll get interested. I can dream, can't I?

You make a good point. This could effect the TV series coming out on DVD. On the other hand it may not. It wouldn't be the first time a studio failed to capitalize on publicity.
