"Def Comedy Jam" producers Russell Simmons and Stan Lathan have a new series, but, unlike ''Jam," it will not be on HBO, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Their new series will feature up-and-coming stand-up comics and will be on Comedy Central. JB Smooth will host the six half-hour episodes.

It’s the first time Comedy Central has worked with the producers.

HBO's ‘Def Comedy Jam,’ helped launch the careers of Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence and Bernie Mac, among others.
