I don't do this often because I'm not very religious but I'm worried enough that just in case, it can't hurt.

My gram is in the hospital again for the third time because she is having trouble breathing. It was almost a month ago now that she had to be rushed there becaues she couldn't breath, and they said if they had waited much longer she would've been gone because so much fluid had built up in her lungs. They had to get rid of the fluid and then put tube in her throat to help her breath. She has emphysema-she's never smoked herself, but from years of second-hand smoke and family history. Everytime the machine reads well and they think she looks good, they take her off of it and send her to the nursing home for rehab, and then it happens again. Tonight she was sent back to the hospital for the third time and I'm getting worried because I don't know what to think. She's completely fine and with it, it's just her lungs and that's what kills me. She's 85 so obviously I'm worried and I dunno.

I really appreciate it.

Once again, thanks everyone. I went to visit her on Saturday and she was sedated, so she didn't look so great. My aunt visited her again Sunday, too, and said she was looking better. Other than that, we just don't really know anything for now. It's agonizing.

Thanks guy. Just as a little update, my gram's been out of the ICU but she's still in the hospital. She has COPD which isn't so great, but otherwise she's doing alright. She's a very nervous person so my mom and aunts have been taking turns sleeping overnight in the hospital with her. It's awful to see my mom so stressed out so I'm glad to be home on spring break to help out a little.

Hi...I haven't really said much recently about any of this because my Grandma has been doing pretty well, but I just found out that she took a turn for the worse today and it's really, really bad. I called my mom and she couldn't say much because she was crying. I just visited her earlier today before I left for school, and while she wasn't the greatest, she was alright. She was in the rehab room and everything and now she's back in the ICU. I'm so worried. I don't know if the outcome will be good, but regardless can you all make sure to say a prayer for her again? I appreciate it.

I know that feeling all too well. Thats the way it was when my grandmother passed. I still miss her. My heart goes out to you and your family.

Just keep in mind before, during, and after the wake that her pain is over.I know it's gonna be hard to deal with, but hopefully that helps.

Thank you everyone. Today really sucked, but my Gram would hate for me to be upset. She always worried about me lol. There's this running joke in my family because she'd always look at me when I was little and say "poor Ashlee, she's so tired" and I've always been teased about it lol. I love her so much, it was so hard to see her like that. My whole family paused before the door because we just couldn't go in at first. My mom was telling me today that not too long ago she was visiting her and my Gram said to her, "Carol, I'm getting old. I'm gonna die soon." and my mom sort of blew it off because my Gram, let's face it, was a bit dramatic sometimes lol...but my mom said "Yeah I know, ma, I'm getting old too. It'll happen to us all eventually." and my Gram said, "But I don't want to die and then have everyone be sad." She was always thinking about us all, always worried about all of us. My cousin also told me that she did have a choice to work harder with the oxygen so she could keep going, but Gram made the choice that she just didn't want to do it anymore. I don't blame her, it must've been so hard. I'm just glad I got to see her one last time on Monday. And what was the last thing she asked me? If I had any money lol. She was always giving me 20 bucks every time I saw her. I'm really, really gonna miss her. She was so funny. Everyone loves her.

I especially loved the old pictures my mom and aunt put together. My gram was soo pretty when she was young, and my grandfather was very handsome too. They look like a couple of movie stars in this one picture of them together by a car. Maybe if I get some copies of those pictures I'll post them.

Tomorrow is the funeral. Not looking forward to that either.

I'm glad you have such nice memories of your Gram! It sounds like she was a very nice and very loving woman.
