Police and worried loved ones are searching for actor Andrew Koenig, best known for playing "Boner" on 'Growing Pains,' who went missing in Vancouver a week ago.

Koenig, 42, was last seen on Feb. 14 and he missed his flight out of the Olympic host city two days later, according to a statement from TV host Dave Holmes on MaximumFun.org. Authorities are searching for the actor, who has recently been working as a camera operator on the comedy podcast, 'Never Not Funny.'

While in Vancouver, he was staying with burlesque artist Jenny Magenta, who took to Facebook on Friday to ask for help in finding Koenig, whose parents told her he may be "severely depressed" about something.

His father is Walter Koenig, who played Chekov in the 'Star Trek' series and films. Andrew's most recent role was 2008's 'InAlienable,' written and directed by his dad.

For four years, Koenig played Mike Seaver's affable best friend Richard "Boner" Stabone on 'Growing Pains.' He was written off the show in 1989 when "Boner" signed up for the Marine Corps.

It's been a long time since they acted together on the set of Growing Pains, but Kirk Cameron has never forgotten costar Andrew Koenig – and now desperately worries about him after he went missing amid signs he was depressed.

"I am praying for his family during this time of distress and for his safe return," Cameron says in a statement. "Andrew, if you’re reading this, please call me."

Koenig, 41, who starred as Boner on the show, never returned to his Los Angeles home as scheduled on Feb. 14 after a trip to Canada. His father described him as sounding "despondent" the last time they spoke.

Cameron, who played Koenig's neighbor Mike on the hit '80s show, says, "Mike and Boner could always work things out when they put their minds to it. I'm praying for you, pal. Hope to hear from you soon."

BREAKING NEWS: Canadian Police Issue Release, They Believe Andrew Koenig Still In Vancouver Area

As Star Trek actor Walter Koenig and his wife arrive in Vancouver, British Columbia from Los Angeles to search for their missing son, former child star Andrew Koenig, police in Vancouver are saying that they believe the 41-year-old is still alive.

A press release issued Tuesday by Canadian authorities confirmed an exclusive report by RadarOnline.com on Monday that revealed police had tracked Andrew’s cell phone and banking records and that has led them to the belief that Andrew is in the Vancouver area.

Here is the press release from Canadian authorities:

“There’s no new information to report in the disappearance of Andrew Koenig. Investigators continue to follow up on the many tips they have received.

“Cell phone and banking records up until the time he disappeared lead police to believe he is still in the Vancouver area. There has been no cell phone or bank activity since February 16th when he was last seen in south Vancouver.

“Police are still hopeful that Andrew will be found alive and safe.

“Anyone with information on Andrew’s whereabouts or events leading up to his disappearance is asked to call the Vancouver Police Missing Persons Unit at 604-717-2530. Any sightings can be reported to 911 or local police.”

As RadarOnline.com reported exclusively on Monday there have been multiple sightings of Andrew in the Vancouver area and that has given his friends and police hope that he is alive and well. Numerous friends have told RadarOnline.com that Andrew has battled depression for much of his life.

Poor guy, I hope he decides to call his family and let them know he's alive. I can only imagine the anguish they're going through. I've always loved that episode where Boner and Mike both get jobs at that electronics store, Andrew Koenig's performance in that one was hilarious!!

(CNN) -- Actor Andrew Koenig, missing since February 14, was found dead in Vancouver, British Colombia, Thursday, a source close to the family told CNN.

The body of the former "Growing Pains" star was found in a park, according to the source, who spoke to Koenig's father after Koenig was informed of the discovery.

The source asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Koenig, 41, was reported missing by his parents after he did not board a flight to Los Angeles from Vancouver last week.

Vancouver police confirmed a body was found in Stanley Park around noon Thursday, but said only that it was "believed to be that of Andrew Koenig."

A police news conference, with his parents expected to attend, was set for 5 p.m. local time (8 p.m. ET) in the park to discuss the case.

Walter Koenig -- himself an actor, known for his role as Pavel Chekov in the "Star Trek" series -- flew to Vancouver with his wife, Judy, on Tuesday to help with the search.

The Koenigs said they received a letter from him last week in which their son wrote in a "despondent tone."

He had stopped taking medication for depression about a year ago, his father said.

Unknown to his parents at the time, Andrew Koenig sold or gave away many of his possessions and moved out of his apartment in Venice, California, before traveling to Canada, the family said.

Koenig fell in love with Vancouver in 1988 when he first visited to film an episode of the TV show "21 Jump Street," his father said.

Koenig appeared in 25 episodes of "Growing Pains" from 1985 to 1989, playing Richard "Boner" Stabone, according to a filmography posted on the Internet Movie Database Web site. He also appeared in episodes of several other television shows.

He is described as "a gifted and passionate multitalented young man" on his father's Web site.

He performed at The Improv and had roles in movies that included "NonSeNse," "InAlienable," "The Theory of Everything" and "Batman: Dead End." He also acted on television in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "G.I. Joe," "My Two Dads," "21 Jump Street," "My Sister Sam" and "Adam-12," the Web site said, and edited, directed, produced and wrote a number of films.

Koenig was an activist interested in many causes, his father's Web site says. He was arrested at the Rose Bowl in 2008 while protesting U.S. involvement in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in China. He opposed U.S. participation because of China's support for a repressive regime in Myanmar, also known as Burma, the Web site says.

Oh my God... As soon as I saw this thread, I went over to CNN's site and read the story. Every time I hear about someone taking their own life, I can't help but think of my dad and how he did the same thing. When I heard that Andrew was depressed, it made me think that this was not going to turn out well at all. Just horrible. Kirk Cameron and the cast of Growing Pains (and obviously Andrew's family) must be beside themselves with grief right not. I haven't thought about Andrew Koenig in years and even my eyes welled up a little when I heard about this.

Monika, I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through depression but very happy to hear that you are on medication for it. Depression is a horrible thing. I've been through it myself but thank God mine was relatively mild and didn't last too long. But I took meds for it as well.

That site is horrible! I went over there after Stanley Kammel (Dr Kroger on Monk) died back in 2008 and I was just appalled at the replies. I think some people just post just to be posting something-even if it means being cruel and heartless.

BTW, I was on Facebook and they've started a memorial page for him. On that page was this link to his dad's site. Very nicely done page, but it did get me a little emotional. Nice to see that they've put very helpful info near the bottom.

It's great that in the midst of tragedy Walter Koenig and his wife are reaching out to others suffering from depression to try to keep other families from going through what they're going through. And if they help even one person seek help then Andrew's death won't be meaningless. God bless the Koenig family.

Well, exactly. It's terrible for anyone with any connection, even as a viewer whether regular or occasional. Walter Koenig said he had received "thousands" of messages from people affected by this issue in some way. Andrew seems to have been a good person. His arrests came from trying to free people across the world, not from alcohol, drugs, or assault like so many former young stars. His parents and many others obviously loved him. One only wonders what can have gone so terribly wrong to cause this awful conclusion. :( :rip:

I'm sure they have. I did see where Joanna Kearns, Alan Thicke and Jeremy Miller commented before they found him so I'm sure they have commented afterward. I haven't found anything yet though. They all seemed real concerned. Alan Thicke really praised him. He said that they all thought of him as part of the GP family and it was a real testiment to him that he created such a beloved character.
