I know the girls loved each other and they were there to make us laugh, but it seemed that Dorothy's responses to Rose were constantly sarcastic; she never let up.

I really appreciate witticsm, but the fact that Dorothy always had a sarcastic remark makes me wonder if she actually felt Rose was beneath her.

What do you think?

I have to be honest...I think they were all pretty mean to each other. In fact, in the episodes about the abusive boyfriends - Blanche's, and her daughter's - I wondered if the boyfriends were any worse than how they all treat each other.

But it does seem a little crueler when directed at Rose... maybe just because she seems more vulnerable?

I don't think Dorothy was mean to Rose (at least on a regular basis) but I do think she would get impatient with Rose's lack of quickness and naivete - hence the sarcastic remark. (Rose did have a habit of seeing the nuances of situations and expressions, sometimes, and would often taken something literally when it was meant figuratively or fascetiously.

They all had their "mean" comments to each other- whether about Rose's lack of smarts, Dorothy's appearance or Blanche's "looseness."

Sophia probably was the character least on the receiving end of jokes- but she got some zingers from time to time. Like when Blanche said that just because she looked like Yoda, she also thought she was wise. ha And the "raisin in sneakers" when they were fighting over Fidel.

Sometimes yes, Dorothy was sarcastic towards everyone now just Rose but she was at times meaner to Rose than Blanche. But Blanche still recieved many jabs at her for being as one poster said 'loose' I think maybe in some way Dorothy was jealous of Blanche being the center of attention when it comes to guys. Rose, when she tells St.Olaf stories or says something idiotic Dorothy usually would get frustrated and annoyed by her saying those stupid things or making/telling her St.Olaf stories that went on forever in her world it annoyed her and not just Dorothy, Sophia and Blanche too.

But Dorothy got her wings clipped some when she and the girls met that prejudiced woman author named Barbara, who was an uppity, very snooty ,prejudiced woman ,only Dorothy couldn't see it until the very end, when Sophia's Jewish boyfriend came calling.I liked it at the end, when she said to Rose, who asked her if she was still going to the masquerade party as the rear end of a horse, she said "After what I've been through,I'll be happy to go as the horses' rear end".

I think Dorothy and Blanche could both be a little... impatient with Rose's naivete. But they all got their digs into each other at various times, so it was all fair play!

Yes, they all did get their digs but it was all in good nature and fun cause in the end they were all friends who acted like family. After all, families sometimes don't always get along. :D

Yeah, sometimes I feel sorry for Rose. Dorothy treats Blanche the same way, but maybe not as often. I really don't like it when BOTH Dorothy and Blanche gang up on Rose.
